The Battle of the Whitestrips, Crest Vs. Rembrandt

Crest Whitestrips, Rembrandt, Whitening Strips, Whitestrips

You may think whitestrips are whitestrips, that they’re all the same. You’re wrong. Chances are, you don’t think about do it yourself cosmetic dentistry that often…but in this case, you should. The gimmick phase of this product is over, and you actually have competing brands now. I’ve tried both the Crest and Oral B Rembrandt brands. There is definitely a clear winner between the two. Let’s compare, shall we?

I tried the Rembrandt brand first roughly a year ago. I had a special occasion coming up, and while I don’t think my teeth were particularly yellow...I thought it might be a nice thing to try since I drink coffee once to twice every single day. All the whitening strips that you can buy in a drugstore are mild enough to use at home. I had a small fear that the bleach would shrivel my teeth up, or at the least bleach them unevenly. (I’m the girl who was afraid I’d get locked in a tanning bed and burn alive. Just so you know…) Well, neither happened. All I had to do was peel some backing off of a waxy strip and mold it around my teeth. Almost like putty of some kind. It stayed put, and it wasn’t too unpleasant. It had basically no taste, though it did give me cotton mouth. I did this once a day for 7 days. I noticed a difference with each bleaching, and while nobody ever exclaimed to me how white my teeth were, I did get a lot more compliments on my smile than usual. And again, as a bonus…no shriveled little teeth or uneven bleaching. So, even though I was skeptical about using whitestrips at all, the Rembrandt brand proved me wrong.

Just about a week ago, my Mom happened to bring me some Crest Whitestrips. After asking her if this was an indirect way of telling me I needed to take a trip to the dentist, (She said no, that she found them in her medicine cabinet...I’m still not so sure.) I started using them. With the Crest brand, you must bleach twice a day. That’s a smidge annoying; I was spoiled by only having to do it once a day before. Also, the material that the whitestrips themselves are made of is very flimsy plastic. They slip on your teeth quite frequently when you’re wearing them. So if you’re not vigilant…there is a real possibility of uneven bleaching. Let’s face it, on the list of bad things that could happen to you in life, this really isn’t a concern. But, if you’re vain enough (like me) to want your teeth to look whiter, than you may be upset about unevenly colored teeth. Don’t want to go around looking like you’ve got candy corns in your mouth, right?

So if you ask me, Rembrandt whitening strips are absolutely the clear winners. They’re a little more expensive, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. It will be easier to keep up the bleaching process only having to do it once a day for a week. And the strips themselves won’t slip and slide on your teeth. So, I recommend that you buy the Rembrandt brand whitestrips.
