Alba Botanica Clarifying Shampoo Review

Clarifying Shampoo, Short Hairstyle

For most of my life I have had oily hair that required daily washings. I used a few clarifying shampoo’s to get my hair extra clean, but they sometimes felt like they were removing moisture from my scalp and leaving my hair feeling stripped.

Now that I am in my early 50’s, my hair has changed and is no longer oily, but just the opposite. It is truly more on the dry side, and I have never (until recently) used a shampoo for dry hair.

My hair is very fine and thin, and in order to attain my full looking short hairstyle, I have to use several styling aids every time I wash and dry my hair! I use a hair thickening spray, a root lifting spray, and after drying my hair I use a heat activated setting spray as well as hairspray. You can imagine the build up that accumulates on my hair, especially since I only wash it three to four times a week! Using a clarifying shampoo is now necessary once again, to remove this build up, but I wanted to find one that was more gentle on my hair.

Enter Alba Botanica! I have used a variety of Abla Botanica products over the years, and I love their great gentle and natural ingredients, but at the same time, they are just as effective as other products on the market! Alba Botanica makes a wonderful Clarifying Shampoo that is good for my problem, for oily hair, and even for color treated hair (my hair is chemically highlighted).

Alba Botanica describes their clarifying shampoo as a purifying rosemary extract with non-stripping cleansers, shine enhancing chamomile and nourishing panthenol for improved volume, manageability and shine.

Green Tea is added as an antioxidant to protect the hair and scalp from the free radicals in our environment. Aloe Vera is the second ingredient, and it is well established for it’s soothing and healing properties. Eucalyptus gives the shampoo a fresh, invigorating scent, as well as a cooling and tingly sensation during the shampoo! Chamomile helps bring shine to the hair, and panthenol is added to help make the hair fuller.

What this shampoo does not have are ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, paraben preservatives, phthalates, artificial colors or silicones. And Alba Botanica does not test on animals, and this issue is very important to me as an animal lover. I always try to support companies who refuse to test on animals.

Alba Botanica Clarifying Shampoo comes in a 8.5 ounce plastic gold colored bottle that retails for $9.95. It has a slight hourglass shape that is easy to hang on to in the shower, even with wet hands, and the flip top cap is easy to open. Despite being a more natural shampoo, it provides plenty of lather, and it rinses cleanly and easily, leaving hair squeeky clean, but not feeling stripped!! It does a good job of removing the build up from my styling products, and at the same time it doesn’t affect the chemical highlights that I pay so much to have applied to my hair.

I love Alba Botanica products, and if you are looking for a good, natural clarifying shampoo, this is surely one brand that you will want to consider.
