Sunburn Prevention Tips

The weather is beginning to become beautiful and warm. The sun has several advantages for day to day living. But the disadvantages are just as grand as the advantages. Summer days are just around the corner. Be aware the sun can be brutal to our skin. To protect our skin from the sun’s brutal rays, we must follow these prevention tips.

APPLY SUNSCREEN/ RE-APPLY. Sunscreen is the most important prevention of sunburn. Many often make the mistake of not re-applying sunscreen after the first application. Every few hours a new application of sunscreen should be applied.

UMBRELLA. An umbrella is a great tool to help keep the sun from causing sunburn. The umbrella provides shade on a pole from the sun’s rays. The size will determine just how much rays of the sun will be blocked.

SANDALS. The sun’s rays can heat surfaces in matter of minutes. The soles of feet need to be protected from the heat of the sun. Your feet can become burnt from the heated surfaces.

SUNGLASSES. Your eyes need to be protected against the sun just as much as your skin. Sunglasses are designed to shield and protect your eyesight. The sun can cause damage to the eyes.

LIGHT COTTON CLOTHING. Heavy, dark clothing attracts heat. Black clothing isn’t recommended to wear on a warm, sunny day. Remember to keep the clothing light in color and material.

LIP BALM. Your lips need to be protected from the sun’s rays. Lip balm not only gives your lips moisture but protection from the sun. The tip is to keep re-applying the lip balm to keep the lips soft and protected.

WEAR A HAT. A hat is essential to keeping most or all of the sunlight out of your eyes. A hat doesn’t or can’t protect you from the sun completely. But it does prevent same sunburn from occurring. The size of the hat determines just how much sun protection is received.

AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT. The direct rays of the sun is where the most heat is produced. The more you stay out of the sun’s direct rays, the less likely you are to become burnt.

LENGTH OF TIME. The longer you are in the sun, the more chances you are to be burnt. When outdoors limit yourself in the sunlight. You don’t want to be in the sunlight for too long. Just be careful on how long you plan to stay outside in the sun.

SHADE. Trees provide plenty of protection from the sun. If you happen to forget an umbrella on your outdoor outing, find cover from nearby trees. Large trees are perfect when seeking shade from the sun and it’s rays.

Each tip is a must plan for preventing sunburn. Sunburns appear in three different stages; first, second and third degree. The degrees of burns is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The more precautions that are taken in preventing sunburn, the less likely you are to become burned. Even though the sun has many positive advantages to our health and to our environment, it can cause a great deal of damage. The best tip to eliminating sunburn is to use smarts.

You can even have windburn or become burnt on a cloudy day. No matter how the sunlight maybe, always prepare yourself as if the sun will in fact give you a sunburn. Just be careful and prepare for the worst.
