Frankenmuth, Michigan has a summer of fun planned, with festivals available on many of the summer weekends.

Frankenmuth is a Bavarian style town in Michigan. The town is an ideal weekend destination for people in the Great Lakes region. Frankenmuth is about 90 miles north of Detroit and about 300 miles northeast of Chicago. The town that is famous for celebrating Christmas all year around is the home of Bronner’s, with acres of Christmas decorations that can be purchased there, or via catalog.

Frankenmuth is a popular destination that attracts visitors to experience it’s unique Bavarian charm. any weekend is a great time to visit “Frankenmuth, but during the festival weekends, there till be many more activities, along with music, beer and German food.

During the summer months, there are some extra special festivals. So take a drive and have fun at Frankenmuth. Following are this summer’s special lineup of festivals:

May 18 & 19
Michigan’s largest international beer sampling event. There will be over 150 beef samples to choose from, two cooking with beer classes, four entertainment groups and a food area. Admission is 5. Each 4oz. sample is $1. Must be 21 and over to attend. If planning to drink, ask about the “safe-ride” program that provides transportation to and from local hotels.

June 7-10
The 49th Annual Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival is expected to draw over 100,000 people. The annual parade will be held on Sunday, June 10th, 2007. The parade will feature over 100 units, which include marching band, decorated floats, dance clubs, visiting dignitaries, entertainers, royalty and the newly crowned Princess and her Court. Many of the parade participants wear traditional Bavarian clothing. The weekend is packed with fun, food, beer, dance music and a midway area with rides. Saturday is Kinder Tag (Kids Day), with face painting and special activities for the children. There is a special parade for children on Saturday, June 9 at 10:00 am.

Summer Music Fest

August 10-18
Nine day music festival features food, refreshment and entertainments. Minstrels will perform every day from 2:00 pm until midnight. Festival goers can enjoy a brat and a brew and dance across 10,000 square feet of wooden dance floor. On Tuesday, August 14, Mark Schultz will perform along with mark Harris and Natalie Grant. On Wednesday, August 15, Brenda Lee will perform. Many of the finest polka bands from all across the USA will be performing at the festival On August 16-17-18 the Fabulous Hubcaps will perform.

Oktoberfest
September 20-23
Celebrate German Oktoberfest in “Michigan’s Little Bavaria”. Frankenmuth strives to retain as much of the Bavarian heritage and traditions as possible. Frankenmuth is the first Oktoberfest outside of Munich to be sanctioned by the Parliament and the City of Munich. Oktoberfest is a traditional festival in Germany that celebrates the harvest. The festival is known the world over for frivolity, food and beer. German cooking served daily, along with German beers and
traditional Bavarian Inn pretzels.

Summer is a beautiful time of year to visit Michigan. Frankenmuth’s festivals feature Bavarian entertainment, food, beer, music and much more. There may be crowds, so make hotel reservations early.
