Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors Review

Hershey Pa, Ranchers, Sugar Free, Sugar Substitutes

I wrote a review about Sugar-Free Life Savers Hard Candy recently, after I bought a bag for my guy who’s Diabetic. You can read it here. Since we both love fruit-flavored candy, I bought a bag of another kind of classic candy we have always loved. Read this Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors Review and learn all about this product!

Price and Availability
I purchased a 3.6-ounce bag of this hard candy at Walgreens for about two dollars. This bag contains four flavors of Jolly Ranchers- Watermelon. Apple, Grape and Raspberry. Each candy is individually wrapped. These are four of our favorite flavors.

I’m not sure what other retailers sell this product, but I bet all the bigger drug stores do.

Product Description
Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors are pretty much like the regular ones. They have an intense, tart, fruity flavor. This product is manufactured in Canada for The Hershey Company, Hershey, PA, USA. Being that Jolly Ranchers are such a fine hard candy, it’s no surprise to me that they are a Hershey’s product.

The Sugar Alcohols that are used in Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors are Isomalt and Polyglucitol Syrup. If you eat too many of these treats at one time, these sugar substitutes may cause a laxative effect. That’s one thing you need to be aware of.

The good news is, these sugar substitutes are “slowly metabolized carbohydrates that generally cause only a small rise in blood glucose levels.” That’s a good thing for Diabetics. The American Diabetic Association lists a serving of Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors as being 0.5 carbohydrate in the Dietary Exchange.

And finally, we all know it’s true, but I was surprised to see the warning of “Careful: Small Objects Like Hard Candies May Get Lodged in the Throat.” I don’t recall seeing a warning like this before.

Taste Test and Conclusion
At about 10 calories a candy, I believe Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors have 40% less calories than the original version. That’s a good thing for anyone who is watching their weight.

If you like tangy, fruity flavors, you’ll love these hard candies. They’re low in calories, they don’t cause tooth decay , and they won’t raise your blood sugar significantly. I highly recommend Sugar-Free Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy- Assorted Flavors!
