Subway’s New Breakfast Sandwich

Breakfast Sandwich, Fast Food Breakfast, Hashbrowns, Resturants

Subway Resturants has finally entered the realm that every other fast food chain caught onto decades ago – Breakfast. Of course Subway has it’s healthy twist on the first meal of the day, it’s got to be heart healthy and loaded with fresh vegetables! I have worked next to a Subway for some time now, stopping in for a sandwich every now and then loving the place more and more every time I visit. Then I heard on a morning radio show about their new breakfast menu while I was actually driving by it and so I quickly pulled in to check it out.

Right when I walked in the menu just called out to me. A huge picture on the wall showed their new signature sandwich with egg whites, cheese, bell peppers and onions on an English muffin with a coffee for $2.50. You can’t get that deal at McDonalds! Of course you could throw in some fried hashbrowns but that would be going against the “heart healthy” plan, so I opted out. I dug out the $2.71 for my breakfast and trucked on over to my office to give this sandwich a try.

Amazingly enough it wasn’t your everyday fast food egg slapped on an English muffin breakfast. It was yummy! I quickly looked up the nutrition information on Subway’s online menu and found out I had only consumed 160 calories and 4 grams of fat. That’s not bad for a fast food breakfast! They did have the non-egg white option which is higher in calories and fat, and I could have added black forest ham and/or bacon and of course these numbers would have gone up. But even with cheese my breakfast this morning fit right along with my daily allowance of fat and calories.

So of course it is day three of my Subway breakfast discovery and I have yet to get sick of it.Other options are available like omelet sandwiches on regular bread, but I have stuck with the classic and I am pleasantly surprised. So stop into one today, you’ll be surprised as well!
