Starting Your DVD Dropship Business

Drop Ship, Drop Shippers

Have you ever wanted to sell some of the more popular television series on DVD that you see in Wal-Mart but didn’t know where to start or who to trust? This article will help guide you in your decision to help you start a profitable eBay or Amazon store that can provide your customers with satisfaction and give you a little more $$$ on the side with not too much work.

Basically there are 2 major rules to follow when deciding to sell online and abiding by these will help improve your success.

1) Sell What You Are Passionate About
2) Sell What People Want

I like rule #2 because it allows us to take the guesswork out of selling by giving people exactly what they want. The only trick is being able to find a supplier for what you want to sell. Have a good look on eBay or Amazon and see what is a hot seller; this might give you some insight in to what avenue you want to take. Personally I think that the many different TV series offered on DVD tend to sell quite well since we, as a society are fairly addicted to the tube. Moreover on this, I think that complete box sets, not single episodes will be a top seller for you as the buyer feels that they are getting a little more bang for their buck.

Advantages of Drop shipping

If you want to sell without any inventory than drop shipping can be a great way to jumpstart your e-commerce business. Don’t know what drop shipping is? Here is a quick synopsis. Find a reputable supplier for an item that you know something about or are passionate about then list a particular item on either EBay or Amazon depending on your preference. Once the sale is made you then order your chosen product via your supplier and have it shipped directly to your customer ( your profit is determined by how much your item sells for minus your actual cost) which means the only inventory you are responsible for is the inventory of cash in your pay pal or bank account.

Suppliers

Some suppliers will sell all sorts of DVD’s with minimum order quantities and others will provide DVD’s without minimum order quantities. MOQ suppliers who want you to buy DVD in lots of 100 etc will not be giving you access to the most recent releases, which will in turn affect your sales. In my opinion minimum order quantities are a pain so stay away from those providers. Before I forget, be careful of those drop shippers offering foreign manufactured DVD’s. Some do have access to region 1 genuine releases (Region 1 DVD’s are DVD’s that can only be played in USA/Canada) but they are few and far between, usually they will supply you with region free DVD’s which in most cases have foreign writing or characters on both the cover and disks or in some cases just the disc.

Furthermore on this topic, some online suppliers will try pass off region free DVD’s as the authentic US version release (Region Free DVD’s can be played in any DVD player but are usually very poor quality) but be careful, as they are not. You will most likely end up with an annoyed customer at the end of the transaction resulting in a refund on the other end. In my next article I’ll try and cover what some of these fake DVD’s look like so you know which ones to avoid.

So to recap: Sell what you are passionate about or what people want. Drop shipping allows an individual to sell an in demand product without having to carry any stock. We know that DVD’s are quite popular so this is a route that you may want to think about when deciding what to drop ship. Lastly the TV Series Box sets are an in-demand product that tends to sell quite well on both eBay and Amazon. I will go more in depth next post on what to look for so you are getting a legitimate Box set because there are some that you should steer clear from. Keep an eye out for my future article detailing the DVD’s available for you to sell.
