Stanley Steemer of Atlanta Review: Tile and Grout Cleaning

Stanley Steemer aired a commercial for tile and grout cleaning that started at a promotional price of just 99 bucks. The price sounded great so I called in hopes that they could clean and lighten my unsealed colored grout. Did Stanley Steemer of Atlanta live up to my expectations with their specialized tile cleaning services, or was my time and money wasted? Don’t pick up the phone just yet.

Pricing for my eat-in-kitchen and adjacent bathroom came to just under 250 dollars for tile and grout cleaning. This was still 50 bucks shy of the 300 dollar required minimum for my rural area, so I opted into the grout sealing promoted to me as well. The grand total to clean my tile and grout topped just over 377 dollars.

I made an appointment, and Stanley Steemer of Atlanta fit me into the schedule within days.

On arrival, I had high hopes and found the Stanley Steemer crew to be very courteous and friendly. They started the process with their own Stanley Steemer cleaner that is sprayed onto the tile and grout. This cleaner was allowed to sit several minutes, and then a long handled brush was used on the grout lines. A cyclone tile cleaner was then used to clean the tile and remove residue from the cleaning agents. This was followed by a Stanley Steemer sealer that was rolled onto the grout lines of my partially dry tile floor. The total tile cleaning and sealing took under two hours and did not fully dry until evening.

I was shocked, disappointed, and frustrated when I realized it looked just like it did before the cleaning.

I called Stanley Steemer of Atlanta with my concerns and they sent their crew back for a second cleaning. However, there is still not a noticeable change in the color or lightness of the grouted areas, even after two cleanings. I also voiced concerns about the grout sealer that was used. Water was still absorbing quickly into the grout like before.

So, what about the satisfaction guarantee stated to me by the call center and listed on the website?

It seems the definition concerning this satisfaction guarantee is ever changing. Todd Farr, part of the management team at the main offices of this franchise Stanley Steemer, felt it was more of a “workmanship guarantee”, and not as it was stated to me or listed on the Stanley Steemer website.

After my first calls, I was granted a partial refund of 124 dollars on the grout sealing from Stanley Steemer of Atlanta. However, it took calling the Stanley Steemer home office before a partial refund of an additional 126 dollars was issued on the actual cleaning from this franchise store.

Even though my cleaning did not deliver noticeable results to my unsealed grout, and I felt frustrated with this franchise store, I did feel the employees sent from Stanley Steemer of Atlanta were considerate. I was thankful that they wore protective covers over their shoes, and I found them to be polite and knowledgeable. I just wish I could say that Stanley Steemer of Atlanta had been successful in restoring my unsealed grout to something close to its original color during cleaning. Sadly though, the products they used did not work.
