Sonicare UV Toothbrush Sanitizer – Kills Germs on Your Brush Head

Sonicare, Uv Light

We’ve all become very aware of bacteria, germs and disinfecting solutions. We have wipes that disinfect, sprays that kill germs and solutions to destory bacteria. Now, Sonicare is offering a UV sanitizer for their electric toothbrush heads. If you use an electic toothbrush it will sanitize your toothbrush head. E.Coli and S.Mutans can collect on your toothbrush head. Every time you flush the toilet particles are sent upwards into the air in your bathroom. That thought alone makes you think. First of all lower the lid before flushing, secondly store your toothbrush inside the medicine cabinet. Third, change your toothbrush regularly and the best suggestion I can make is to you switch to the Sonicare system.

When you think about how expensive dental care can be it’s important to protect your teeth. Having just been through a $2000.00 root canal and crown procedure I am now really paying even more attention to preventative dental care. You still should floss, brush regularly , at least 2-3 times a day and visit your dentist for clenings and check ups. Using a good cleaning system will give you that extra coverage when it comes to healthy, clean teeth.

The Sonicare UV system is an effective germ control system. It kills millions of bacteria in one 10 minute treatment. When you think of all this bacteria on your toothbrush you won’t want to put it in your mouth. Your toothbrush is a magnet for bacteria and bacteria doubles every 20 minutes. Bacteria can travel into the blood system if you have gum disease then into the lining of your blood vessels forming clots. That leads to a heart attack . Dental health can be a very important part of your general health. Diabetics also need to be very careful about tooth health.

If you have dental implants, veneers, braces or crowns there are areas in your mouth that can allow bacteria to form. This just gives you another reason to be sure your toothbrush is extremely clean.

The Sonicare unit holds a UV light with a protective screen in front of it. The ultraviolet (UV) light will be reflected all around the brush and down the bristles making the bacteria ineffective. You can use this with a Sonicare or Oral B brush head. The bulb lasts for 5 years and replacements are readly available through the Sonicare company. The unit by itself sells for $49.99 and can be found in drugstores, Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond and Linens N Things. These last two stores always offer 20% off coupons. The entire system sells for $179.00.

The UV system is narrow enough to fit in your medicine cabinet. To use you just insert your brush heads into the unit, press the button and wait for the unit to shut off. You leave the brushes in there until your next brushing. The brush heads should still be replaced every three months and I’ve read that if you have the flu or are ill in general replace the brush once you’ve recuperated. If you purchase the Sonicare FlexCare system the UV unit comes with it.

Be careful when you place your sanitizer in the bathroom. You want to avoid having the unit fall into water. If the bristles on your brush become dented or bent they should be replaced because the damaged bristles could break off during brushing. The bulb and screen can be clened with a damp cloth. Remoe the screen and bulb, clean and re insert. If you plan on storing the unit clean all the parts, dry them and store unplugged, away from sunlight and in a dry place. The brush heads will store snugly on pegs in back of the charger. Since we travel I do have to store the unit.
