Shopping in Rochester

Plato's Closet

Whenever we go shopping in any city in the country there is always the question of, what’s the best place to go shopping? As a college student, I have had a ton of different chances to go shopping and there are several places that are on the top of my list based on my experience here in Rochester.

Eastview Mall

The nicest mall out of the three malls available in the Rochester area would be Eastview Mall. PF Changs resides inside this extravagant mall. Eastview Mall is a beautiful mall if you’ve ever seen one! It has some of the nicest stores there and is a bit pricy. It’d be on the top of the list of nice places to go along with Pittsford Plaza.

Mall at Greece Ridge

If you’re not in Greece, this mall is not exactly worth the drive but is near some neat thrift stores, car dealerships, and some local stores around there. The Mall at Greeceridge is a bit larger than the Marketplace Mall but the stores aren’t as hip or nice. (Just an opinion here.)

Marketplace Mall

Looking for something low-key and college orientated, Marketplace Mall is a great mall with lots of shoe stores, stores like gap, has a cute pet store called Robin’s Corner. The food court isn’t too good but there are 4 nice jewelry stores right near the food court.

Pittsford Plaza

An upscale example of the South Town Plaza would be perfectly resembled in Pittsford Plaza. If you’re looking for a great place with a spa, the Cheesecake Factory, Gamestop, Sporting good stores, furniture stores and other great places to shop, the Pittsford Plaza has it all!

The favorite part of Pittsford Plaza is clearly Wegmans which is a glamorous addition on the side of the plaza and a great visit! Pittsford is a upscale town and it’s clearly reflected in this plaza.

Rochester Public Market

I’ve heard raving news from my friends about the Rochester Public Market. There’s no where else to go other than The Public Market to find great local produce and good deals on things like winter gloves/hats and plants that you might want for spring. It’s a place where local farmers and local artists go and sell their items.

South Town Plaza

Quite frankly, South Town Plaza has been struggling for years but lately has been adding a few new places like a new gym and price rite. Those places might help drive traffic to that area however Firestone, a tire place has been there for as long as I can remember. Some other great places would be Jitters, a coffee place and Plato’s closet!

If you’re into clothes, Plato’s Closet isn’t the only place at South Town Plaza. There are some other nice clothing stores like Dots and a lot of shoe stores. Art supplies are easy to find since there’s a Joanne Fabrics and some other art supply shops. It’s a quaint little plaza but has a lot of different places and don’t forget Bank of America and a bagel shop nearby

Village Gate Square

There are a bunch of great little shops in the Village Gate Square including Beers of the World which is a great place to go and find all different kinds of beer. If you’re into world-wide beer then that’s the place to go to find pretty much any kind of beer you want.
