Season’s Pizza in Newark, Delaware

Garlic Bread, Good Pizza, Gyros, Sloppy Joe's

Looking for a good pizza, sub, side of wings, salad, or gyro? Look no further than Season’s Pizza. Season’s Pizza offers great taste for a low price.

Season’s Pizza Offers More Than Just Good Pizza

Let me say it from the get go — Season’s Pizza is not just about pizza. Though, I must say, the pizza ($9.49 for a large; large single topping $1.89 extra) at Season’s Pizza is in a class all its own. In fact, as the Season’s Pizza web site declares, the Season’s Pizza pie has been voted Delaware’s #1 Pizza, as voted in a New Journal Reader’s Choice survey.

I especially enjoyed the sauce which accompanied the ground beef and pepper pizza I ate one day at the Season’s Pizza in Newark, Delaware. The sauce had a particular tang that reminds me of what you may get when you combine a tasty marinara with “sloppy Joe” sauce, though I am not sure of the exact recipe used for the Season’s Pizza sauce. Season’s cheese and wonderful dough (not chewy, not hard, not limp — just a nice combination of softly crispy dough) complete the picture.

Season’s appetizers range the gamut, but I love the garlic bread ($1.99) which is served. Yes, it is garlic bread — not bread “sticks.” Season’s garlic bread is real bread; fluffy, soft, broad pieces of bread baked to a golden finish and smothered in garlic sauce — truly a great primer for any meal, and a good snack all in itself.

Season’s sandwich offerings are diverse and include burgers, subs, wraps, and more. My favorite so far is Season’s gyros ($6.99). To me, the best gyros come on good, soft pita bread, high-quality meat, a moderate amount of tomatoes and onions, and a copious (but not a drenching of) sauce. Season’s met my “good gyro” standards on all counts.

The Season’s Pizza Experience

I was very pleased with the overall Season’s experience. Very friendly, competent, and pleasant staff. Great food. A diverse menu. Wonderful prices. The option for dining in or delivery. The Season’s Pizza location I visited looked very clean, well-kept, and orderly. Cold foods were cold. Hot foods were hot. The sodas (were cold and fizzy. Everything tasted fresh.

With prices comparable to dining at a fast food restaurant chain, I would take Season’s Pizza anyday.

Season’s Pizza has many locations spread throughout Maryland and Delaware, and also can be found in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Season’s Pizza I review here is located at 4606 Ogletown-Stanton Road in Newark, Delaware, near Christiana Hospital and Delaware Park.
