Summer and Seasonal Jobs in the Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan Area

With summer comes opportunities for fun and exciting seasonal jobs. This is especially true in cold states like Michigan. Many Michiganders hibernate for the winter and come out in the spring/summer to enjoy activities such as boating, fishing, skateboarding, golfing or just lying around on the beach. If you are looking for a job opportunity this summer in the Greater Grand Rapids and/or Muskegon area, you are looking in the right place. Here are a list of opportunities to consider.

Michigan’s Adventure Amusement and Water Park – This park is located in Whitehall, Michigan just north of Muskegon. It is owned by Cedar Fair, the same company that owns Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Michigan’s Adventure will open in mid-May and end operation around Labor Day. They are currently accepting applications for ride operators, lifeguards, office help, security, landscapers, food attendants, costume characters, gift shop attendant/cashier, tellers and other positions. City of Muskegon Currently still hiring for some seasonal positions, although some may have already been filled. Here are a list of seasonal positions with the City of Muskegon. Marina Aide (assisting in the operation of the marina), Engineering Aide (great opportunity for a college student. This position assists in drafting plans, assessments, etc.), Facility Supervisor I (helps in overseeing the Farmer’s Market), and several positions in Parks/Recreation including Lifeguards, Recreation and Park Rangers and Playground Leaders. Double JJ Resort This is a horse ranch and golf resort located in Rothbury, about 20 miles north of Muskegon. The resort is in need of lifeguards, arts/crafts specialists, children’s counselors, entertainers, groundskeepers, housekeepers, golf course personnel, waiters/waitresses, bartenders, banquet staff, wranglers and more. There are some added benefits to working for the Double JJ – housing on the property, three meals a day and access to resort activities.

Camps –
Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp – in Twin Lake, Michigan about 15 miles northeast of Muskegon is hiring for both staff and faculty for the summer. Staff positions include camp counselors, lifeguards, health care workers, office staff and more. Faculty is needed in art, piano, harp, theatre, voice, dance, ensemble conductors, jazz, winds, strings and percussion.
YMCA Camp Pendalouan in Montague (outside of Muskegon) – Hiring for camp counselors, health care workers, program leaders and lifeguards.

Other –
MVP Sports Clubs, 4035 Burton SE, Grand Rapids is hiring for seasonal concessions.
Byron Bank, 2445 84th Street SW, Byron Center (a suburb of Grand Rapids) is hiring customer service reps for summer opportunities. Should be a great opportunity for a college student studying in accounting, finance or business management.
Craig’s Cruisers, hiring for summer management and park attendants in Holland and Muskegon.

Be sure to check with golf courses, the malls, hotels, restaurants and day care centers for potential summer employment.
