Save Money with Universal Water Filters for Brita, Pur or Culligan Water Filter Pitchers

Brita, Mineral Water, Pur, Water Filters, Water Filtration

We all want cleaner water. For years, aqua drinkers had several options. Water lovers installed costly water filtration systems in the home under a kitchen sink. They treated tap water with pricey cleansing chemicals, or more commonly, helped boost an ever growing bottled water industry by purchasing expensive choices like Evian or Poland Spring. Bottled water tastes good, but it’s not exactly good for the wallet or environment. Another option is a water filter pitcher or faucet gadget to clean tap water. Brand names like Brita, Pur, Culligan and Zero Water compete for store shelf space and our hard won dollars. Brand names also like us to keep buying water filters they make.

Filter Price

Buy a Brita or Pur water pitcher and filters and you’re fine, right? You now get clean – or at least cleaner – drinking water, and everyone’s happy. Buying filters is cheaper in the long run than buying cases of bottled water, but at almost 10 bucks a filter, they’re still not exactly cheap. Directions for most water filter pitchers say to use one filter for about 2-3 months – depending on the water volume you drink/clean daily. So, if a filter costs about 10 bucks for three months of regular use, that’s 40 bucks plus per year. Compared to bottled water cost, it’s clear water filters are a bargain to a consumer wanting cleaner drinking water. But what if you could save even more? Well, you can save more money, if you buy universal water filters.

Store Brand Water Filters

I’ve used Universal Water Filters – Upgrades By Shoprite for a few months now. They come in either a solo filter costing 3 bucks, or a three pack for about 10 dollars. That’s about 6 dollars less for one filter or 18 dollars less for a three pack of filters compared to the pricey name brands. The physical design looks nearly the same. From the box directions, you use them exactly like the ones made by Brita, Pur or Culligan.

In my daily usage of Upgrades By Shoprite Universal Water Filters, I’ve filtered lots of water and detected no difference in the taste, color or texture (water softness or smoothness) than when using water filters by the big name brand filters. In fact, I’d say the resulting water taste is exactly the same, or better. Brita is a German company and the Upgrades By Shoprite Universal Water Filters are also made in Germany.

Universal Value

Universal Water Filters like Upgrades by Shoprite are sold in most big supermarket chains under a store’s house brand and can usually be purchased for about half the price of the big water filter brands. These universal water filters look nearly the same, work nearly the same, and water produced tastes exactly like water made from more expensive water filters. Water filtration may not clean up tap water fully, and certainly doesn’t make it taste like expensive mineral water, but universal water filters perform as well as most of the pricey models, and they’ll save you money.
