Upstate New York is a beautiful area that is especially perfect for seeing via recreational vehicle, more commonly known as the RV. Plus traveling by RV allows certain comforts such as a refrigerator, bathroom, bed, plus you get to take along your own things, any special foods you may need, and even your furry feline or canine companions.

Heading to Upstate New York on an RV vacation is suitable for seniors traveling alone or families traveling together because you can find an RV campground that has a wide scope of amenities that best suit either an individual or group needs. Generally the open season for RV camping in the Upstate New York area is May through October but you will want to check with each RV campground for the exact dates.

Before you head for Upstate New York, you might want to go online and check out some of the RV Campgrounds that are available and find the one that will best suit your needs. Since there are so many different RV campgrounds and looking through all those individual websites can seem like a tedious chore, I have put together a list of six RV campgrounds in Upstate New York to get you started. Here they are in no particular order.

RV Campgrounds in Upstate New York #1: Lake George RV Park

The Lake George RV Park is located in the center of the Lake George Region in Upstate New York. They have won the Woodall’s Camping Guide 5W rating for 41 years in a row. This means that they are among the top 100 rated RV campgrounds in the USA. They have the distinction of being the ONLY campground that has won this rating for so many years in a row.

The Lake George RV Park has 390 campsites, some back-in, some pull-in for your RV big rigs (anything over 40 feet). Each campsite has full hook-ups, both 30 and 50 amp electric are available, water, sewer and cable TV. For an additional charge you can even have high-speed wireless internet! Campsites have a picnic table and a fire ring. In the summer peak months, the daily fee starts at $71.00 with a three day minimum stay required. This is for 2 people with each additional person costing extra. Children under 5 years old are free. Pets are allowed with certain restrictions.

Some of the other Lake George RV Park amenities include a trolley shuttle to over 100 outlet stores in the area, swimming pools (heated AND an indoor one), movie theater, Laundromat, general store, shower and restroom buildings, video arcades with pool tables, paved bike trails, tennis courts, fitness center, and so much more. They also offer year-round RV storage to make your life and vacation even more convenient!

RV Campgrounds in Upstate New York #2: Adirondack Gateway RV Resort

The Adirondack Gateway RV Resort is located between Saratoga Springs and Lake George, NY. They have 308 RV campsites and of those, 176 have full hook-ups with 30 or 50 amps electric, water and sewer. Pets are welcome and tents are allowed. Adirondack Gateway RV Resort amenities include miniature golf, playgrounds, great fishing, laundry facilities, game room, swimming pools and a lot more.

Rates to stay at the Adirondack Gateway RV Resort start at $45 per night for a site with full hook-ups. This price is based on 4 people for one campsite, kids under 5 are free. Each additional person will be an additional $5.00 and only 4 adults per campsite are allowed with a maximum of 6 people allowed in total for each campsite. RV Campgrounds in Upstate New York #3: Southwoods RV Resort

The Southwoods RV Resort is located in Byron, NY near Finger Lakes, Niagara Falls and Six Flags Darien Lake and offers hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, and bird watching, just to name a few activities!

Southwoods RV Resort has both pull-in and back-in RV sites with full hook-ups, water, sewer and some 50 amp electric sites available. Pets are welcome but no aggressive dogs and you must show proof of vaccinations when you check-in.

Rates for campsites with full hook-ups start at $34 per day, for the weekend, with a three night minimum stay required. If you don’t own your own RV, Southwoods RV Resort offers travel trailer rentals beginning at $75 per day.

RV Campgrounds in Upstate New York #4: Hoss’s Adirondack RV Campground

If a large camping resort is not the place for you, you may find Hoss’s Adirondack RV Campground more to your liking. Located in the center of town, Long Lake, NY, on a peninsula, Hoss’s Adirondack RV Campground has only sixteen camping sites and ten of those are waterfront sites! All 16 campsites have full hook-ups with 30/50 amp electric available, water and sewer. Pets are welcome. Camp sites start at $28 per day.

Hoss’s Adirondack RV Campground may be small but has a lot of nearby activities that make it the perfect spot to use for your base camp. Every year Hoss’s Country Corner hosts two events. The first one is an Author’s Night where Adirondack authors and storytellers gather for readings and signing books. Plus local Adirondack musicians play Adirondack folk music. Author’s Night is held the 2nd Tuesday in August and is in its 24th Year. The other event is their yearly Tent Sale where you can buy Adirondack gifts. Check out their website for more information.

RV Campgrounds in Upstate New York #5: Adirondack Adventure Resorts Schroon River

The Adirondack Adventure Resorts Schroon River is located along the Schroon River and has almost one mile of beautiful river front camping. They have 158 RV sites available and 70 of those have full hook-ups with 30/50 amp electric, water and sewer. If you don’t own your own RV, they also have six RV’s available for rent.

Adirondack Adventure Resorts Schroon River amenities include boat rentals, fishing, swimming, game room, laundry, hot showers, tent camping and more. Their rates start at $39.00 per night with a limit of two people, children under 5 are free. Each additional person is $5.00 per night with a maximum number of four adults and two minor children allowed per camp site.

The Adirondack Adventure Resorts also offers a second site, Adirondack Adventure Resorts Saratoga Springs, around their private lake that offers an additional 112 RV camping sites. The rates are the same for both resorts plus they share the same website. The amenities are slightly different at both resorts so check out the website to find the one that might best fit your needs.

The Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Paradise Pines is located in Essex County, NY along the Schroon River and offers pizza delivery to your campsite! They have a snack menu from which they will deliver food to your campsite when you’re hungry and they have more than just pizza available. This unusual feature is to help you to relax while you are on vacation, no hassles, no cooking equals more time for fun!

The Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Paradise Pines has 160 camping sites available. 120 of these sites have full hook-ups. Daily rates start at $52 and different camp sites have different rates. No service campsite rates are less than sites that are shady, have a view, are easy access etc. There is a three night minimum and key holiday rates are higher as well. Rates are based on two adults and two children per campsite. Extra adults are $10 per night and extra children ages 3 to 17 are an extra $5 per night. Pets are welcome but no attack dogs.

Just a few of the amenities at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Paradise Pines include boat rentals, RV rentals, cable TV, game room, fishing, hot showers, laundry, planned activities, snack bar, swimming pools, playgrounds, spa, miniature golf, movies, dances, shuffleboard, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, gem stone panning sluice, and a train.

The Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Paradise Pines is very kid-friendly. They offer a multitude of activities for the kids. There are visits with Yogi and Boo Boo Bear, Club Yogi (buy a membership and save a percentage off campsite fees), Yogi Tuck In where Yogi Bear and a Ranger come to your campsite with milk and cookies and read your child a bedtime story, Pedal Cart rentals, root beer floats, train rides and a whole lot more.
