April Fool’s Day at my house is silly and often surprising. Woe to the family members that forgot what day it is because they’ll end up the butt of a few jokes. Our children especially enjoy getting in on the action and every year they seem to get more creative. After you’ve been “gotten” a few times, you get pretty good at spotting a set up. However, it is impossible to know for sure who’s up to what. Prepare to laugh and to prank with these safe, easy April Fool’s Day pranks. Try a few on family members that have a sense of humor-avoid everyone else.
Food Frenzy
There’s nothing like taking a big gulp of something then realizing it isn’t what you thought. Take advantage of the taste bud to brain disconnect by swapping some foods around. Here are a few suggestions for swapping foods.
1. Fill the sugar bowl with salt.
2. Replace the yogurt with mayonnaise.
3. Put a string in the mayonnaise.
4. Pour out the apple juice and fill the bottle with vinegar.
Super Sprayer
When your family members are running to the sink for a glass of water have the sprayer rigged. Tie a rubber band around the sprayer nozzle. When your kids or spouse turns on the water they’ll get hosed down. Hilarious trick for April Fool’s Day.
Wrap It Up
I’ll admit it-they got me with this one. Right before your kids rise and shine cover the doorway over their bedroom with a few strips of cling wrap. When you are ready, ring a bell or make some noise that will startle them out of bed. As kids run to get out of the room, they’ll run into an invisible wall. Also funny-cling wrap the toilet but be prepared to help tidy up after. Cling wrap a pedestal bathroom sink or your child’s shoes.
Toothbrush Gross Out
Before everyone wakes up get to work. Wet the toothbrush with a little water then rub the wet brush in salt. Replace the toothbrush by placing it in the holder. Allow it to dry before waking up the household. When your family goes to brush their teeth they will get a nasty surprise. Have replacement toothbrushes ready for fussy kids!
