Rocking T Knife Makes Slicing and Dicing a Breeze

Beef Roast

The Rocking T Knife is wonderful for those who have arthritis, are handicapped (Cerebral Palsy), who have limited hand motion, or for those who have had a stroke, nursing home patients and the elderly. It is even useful for cancer patients who have Neuropathy in their fingers.

I chose a Rocking T Knife with a wooden handle. You can also get them with a plastic handle. The blade is stainless steel with a single edge blade. The handle is the start of your T with the stainless steel blade screwed into the handle, it comes down about 3 to 4 inches to where the stainless steel rocker is. One end of the blade is shorter than the other, you use the short end for lining up your cutting, and the longer curved blade for cutting.

To use the knife you place the wooden handle in the palm of your hand and then place the blade over what you want to cut. With using pressure from on top of the food item, plus centered in the palm of your hand it takes away the pressure you would use with your thumb and index finger with a regular knife.

I wasn’t sure how well the knife was going to work so I tried it out on somethings that are hard to cut, such as Beef Roast, and raw carrots, steak. All I did was use a rocking motion over the food, and didn’t even have to use a fork to hold my Beef Roast in Place it cut through the meat like it was butter. The Rocking T Knife worked so good cutting carrots that I had to put my hand in front of the carrot while cutting, because I had a few pieces shoot across the room.

It was great to have this knife before and after my surgery. I always had to ask my husband to help cut food. Or to have him dice or slice carrots, potatoes, kohlrabi, cheese, etc. This way having my own knife, I was able to be more independent and do more things on my own again. Plus if my husband was gone to work, and I needed to cut something, I was able to.

When I was taking Occupational Therapy for my thumb to see if they could improve the use of my thumb/hand function, it was suggested that I get the Rocking T Knife. Which they ordered for me and it was covered by insurance. Now that I have had surgery, I still use the knife, to keep from using to much pressure on my thumb. Although the surgery was a success, I want to make sure that I do not wear out the new joint. Plus I find it is a lot easier to use for slicing and dicing when preparing a meal. They do have a carrying case for the knife that you can purchase. So that the knife can be taken along in your purse, or a man can put it over his belt and snap it shut.

This is a very unique and handy knife to have. It is also nice to have among your other knives in case of a injury in the future, or if you have a guest that is having difficulty cutting there food. Some people are to embarrassed to ask someone to cut there food. All I have to do, if I see they are having problems is get the Rocking T Knife out and ask them if they would like to give this knife a try, and just say that I find it much easier to use. It saves embarrassment, plus it is great to see the smile on their face when they are able to cut their own food. Several friends have picked up the Rocking T Knife, to have on hand, plus for slicing and dicing vegetables.
