Review of the Dremel Stylus

Dremel, Honey Do List, Stylus

I was certain last weekend was supposed to be mine. I was to relax on the porch in the morning with coffee and the local newspaper. Somehow that wasn’t the case. I was awarded a special present from my wife, a honey-do list.

Since I have come to expect this sort of behavior from my wife over the years, I immediately set aside the bathrobe, slippers and porch swing and began to get to work solving this interruption of my glorious weekend.

Apparently my wife had attempted to clean the bathroom tile one too many times with various cleaners, not achieving much except withered fingers and a slight head buzz from the chemicals. Our grout was just not getting white enough. I needed to cut out the old grout and replace it with new grout.

Worst yet, it had become my problem in an instant thanks to my recent purchase at our local home improvement center.

Earlier in the week I made a sporadic purchase (as usual) at the local home improvement center. Since I find many new tools fascinating, I purchase them whether I need them or not, many times to my wife’s dismay.

This is where I believe she conspires against me. She makes up projects for me to do with my new tools as punishment for sporadically buying these tools.

I brought this little theory to light with my wife, in which she promptly informed me of my insanity and dismissed me to complete her newly formed chore list. Of course I refused to do the list and retreated to my newspapers, robe and porch.

So after a long sulking drive to the local home improvement center, I bought some new tile grout, a sponge and a tip for my new Dremel Stylus.

I got to work right away once I got home, ready to try out the new cutting tool.

Since the new Dremel Stylus is cordless I didn’t have to worry about getting the cord near the tub and toilet.

I knew this job was going to be easy as soon as I began to tightly grip the Dremel Stylus. The ergonomic handle easily allowed me to concentrate the working tip exactly where I needed it. It also allowed me to control the Dremel more precisely between the tiles.

While this job did tend to wind out the motor occasionally, it didn’t lack on battery power. The lithium ion battery has plenty of juice when you need it most.

Around the tub I needed to be careful and not chip the porcelain. No problem with the variable speed of the Dremel Stylus. With a variable speed between 5000 and 25,000 rpm, I had all of the precision and power I needed for my grout removal job.

Once I was done with the Dremel Stylus, it fit neatly back into its docking station. And with its new “no memory” battery’s, you can charge it at anytime, not just when it’s low on power.

Once I cleaned up my mess and re-grouted the tile, my wife was once again happy. And I was left with my remaining Sunday afternoon, porch and newspaper (minus slippers and robe) to relax and read until the next honey-do list was formed.
