Review of Mount Everest Restaurant – Fine Dining Indian Restaurant in Baltimore Area

Chow Chow, Fine Dining, Mount Everest, South Indian

I had an opportunity recently to visit a fine dining Indian restaurant in Baltimore area, named as Mount Everest located at 7927-C, Belair road, Baltimore, MD-21236 with my family for a family dinner. We always look forward to try out various new fine dining restaurants, particularly Indian restaurants as our family is fond of Indian food in all its varieties. We went to this Mount Everest restaurant on Friday evening at around 7 pm.

The parking lot of the restaurant was very big and there was no problem in getting a suitable parking space. We entered the restaurant and were taken to our table for 5 almost immediately by the pleasant looking owner of the restaurant. The menus were handed over to us with cold water service in fine wine glasses. While we were going through the menu, the waiter brought us the masala papads, around 6 in numbers so that we can start our munching. This service was complementary. We were amazed to see the wide varieties available at the restaurant, both in veg and nonveg varieties. The items ranged from delicious appetizers like Samosa, Vegetable Pakoras, Idly, Alu Bonda, Shrimp Pakoras, Chicken Pakoras, and Medhu Vada having the price ranging at about $3.50 per plate. The cold drinks as well as selected alcoholic drinks were also available in case you need them.

Then, there were varieties of soups like Tomatoes, mixed vegetable, and special Nepali Shorba. The main dishes like Vegetable Chow chow, Egg chow chow, Himalaya Jalfrezi, Himalaya Alu Gobi and many others. We were surprised to see many Nepalis items on the menu. Each of these dishes was having the price range of around $11. There were also chicken, sea food varieties, lamb specialties, and Vegetable specialties. We decided on ordering of south Indian items after lot of debate among ourselves. We went for Paper Masala Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Vegetable uthaappam, and the Sada Dosa. Each of us ordered separate varieties in order to savor the taste of variety of items. The price range for these South Indian items was $6.99 per plate. We were served with our orders within around 10 minutes of placing the order and immediately on finishing our appetizers. The taste and the proportions served in all these South Indian dishes were very nice and we were completely satisfied with the preparation of all the items ordered by us. All these items were served with very tasty Sambhar and the Coconut Chutney. We could not order the desert items as our stomachs were full with our orders. However, we were happy to see many Indian deserts items listed in the menu like Gulab Jamuns, Khir, and Rasgullas, available at the price of $3.5 per plate.

One most important feature of this fine dining restaurant is their buffet lunch served on all days between 11.30 am and 3 pm. This delicious buffet lunch serves around 21 items in all. This consists of couple of soups, appetizers, four varieties of vegetables, two varieties of Parothas/roti/Nan, two varieties of rice preparations, and finally two types of most delicious sweet items. You are definite to get full satisfaction through this buffet, which is available at the rate of $8.99 on weekdays and for $9.99 on weekend days of Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with many colored lamps. The standard of cleanliness is also very nice. The staff was also found very polite and quite helpful in deciding our order. The restaurant gets quite full on weekend days at peek hours of dinner. It is suggested to book your table in advance to avoid disappointment and the long wait on such days. The restaurant remains open from 11 am to 10 pm from Sunday-Thursday and 11 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant also gives free delivery within 5 miles range from the restaurant within half an hour time. In short, our experience of this restaurant was very nice and has no hesitation in recommending this place to all my AC friends.

If you are staying somewhere near to Baltimore or passing through this area, do not miss the opportunity to dine at this fine dining Indian restaurant.
