I originally stumbled upon Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes while doing the typical dead stare, sluggish zombie walk through my local grocery store. My bored gaze was broken as I saw a sale price of $.99 or so for some interesting looking instant potatoes. After studying the package for a few moments, I thought to myself, “What the hey”, and added the Original and Four Cheese varieties to my shopping cart.
It was a week or so later before I teamed the Idahoan Four Cheese Instant Mashed Potatoes with veggies burgers and steamed vegetables, which proved to be a rather tasty and easy combination indeed. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of these inexpensive instant mashed potatoes. While any instant mashed potato mix pales in comparison to the real deal home made stuff, Idahoan’s Instant Mashed Potatoes give the competition a run for the money at the very least.
Preparation time, ingredients and dishes needed, and directions are a breeze. Simply boil or microwave two cups of water (for the four serving size package), remove from heat, and stir in the desired variety of Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes. Allow the mashed potatoes to sit for one minute before serving. That is all there is to preparing this fabulous side.
Depending upon the variety of Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes that I am preparing and the dryness of each individual batch, I sometimes add a little milk and/or margarine directly after stirring the dry mix into the water. This is simply my personal recommendation for repairing very dry potatoes and is not required or included on the packaging directions.

Store bought french fries are typically high priced and low quality. Home made french fries are difficult to make and have a lengthy preparation time.
