Gift Ideas for Zombie Lovers

Zombie Movies

While zombies have been around in movies for decades, over the past few years they have increasingly warmed our hearts with their brain-eating ways through movies, games, and clothing. If there’s someone on your gift list who craves brains, loves Romero and Fulci, and whose idea of a good time is going on a zombie walk, here are some gift ideas that don’t involve a jar of brains or creating an actual zombie.

Movies: There are tons of movies that feature zombies from horrific to comedic to those that make a social commentary. Horror Classics Triple Feature Vol. 10 has two zombie movies (of three movies total). Other horror titles include Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1979), Day of the Dead (1985), Burial Ground, and Zombie (1980). Other “collection” sets are available, giving you more zombie for your buck. Zombie Classics is packaged in a collectable tin and features four movies, some of which are Romero’s work.
If you’re looking for campy, b-movie, or funny zombie movies, there are plenty of those titles as well. Redneck Zombies, Fido, Retardead, Shaun of the Dead, Zombie Strippers, Return of the Living Dead, and Hard Rock Zombies are just a few.

Books: Yes, zombies have even infilatrated printed word. Anyone hoping to survive the zombie apocalypse needs Max Brooks’ The Zombie Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead. Other work from Brooks includes The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks and a Zombie Survival Notes Mini Journal. Other zombie books are The Zen of Zombie: Better Living Through The Undead, Zombie Haiku: Good Poetry for Your…Brains, It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Zombies: A Book of Zombie Christmas Carols, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim: Mark Twain’s Classic with Crazy Zombie Goodness, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance – Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!

Games: Before buying a game, make sure you know what game system the recipient has. I shouldn’t have to write that, but you never know. A few zombie-themed video games for the Xbox 360 include Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, and Call of Duty World at War: Nazi Zombies, andthe Resident Evil series.

Clothing: There is a plethora of zombie t-shirts on the market. If you were thinking of giving the Pride and Prejudice zombie book mentioned above, there’s a shirt that matches the book cover. There are shirts with designs featuring movies, like this Fulci inspired one or a Night of the Living Dead tee. Totes like this “Got Zombie” bag make great gifts for students, who generally have lots of books to carry around.

Other: Does your zombie lover drink coffee? This Kill the Zombie Mug would make a great gift for someone wanting to start the day the zombie way. How about zombie toys? A “Flesh-Eating Zombies” figurine set would look great sitting on a mantle. Encourage the lost art of sending mail with these Gothic Zombie Postcards.

Whether your zombie lover is a bookworm, a gamer, a collector, or just someone who would look good rocking zombie-wear, be sure to pick up some zombie gift wrap to complete the package!
