Review of Hotel Rouge, Washington D.C

Cable Service, Dupont Circle, Rouge

Hotel Rouge, located in the powerhouse city of Washington D.C, is a modern art deco hotel catering to tourists and politicians alike. The property is settled on Embassy Row- just four blocks from the shops and restaurants that surround Dupont Circle. In addition to easy access to shops and dining, Hotel Rouge is also a four block stroll from the National Geographic Society. The most popular tourist attraction, the White House, is just seven blocks away from the hotel.

Hotel Rouge is a step back in time and sort of a reinvention of lounges and lodges of the 1960’s. Studded red leather doors open up to a large lobby lined with mahogany wood furniture and deep wood paneled walls. White egg shaped mod style chairs are scattered throughout the room and offer a place for relaxation. Shag carpet rugs and red leather foot stools are placed in one corner of the lobby along with a plush couch draped in fur. This place seriously looks like Hugh Hefner’s bachelor pad.

Guest rooms at the Rouge are just as retro as the main lobby. Deep red and orange hues highlight each room and give it an Asian vibe. Every room at the Rouge is distinctively decorated and even more so- comfortable. Deluxe guest rooms come with 260 sq feet of space, Italian linen, and a 10ft work desk with chair. Sony flat screen televisions are in all guest rooms and come with cable service. Guests can also opt for a deluxe guest room with two queen size beds or one king bed. All basic amenities are included in both the king and queen rooms. Chill Suites are a more “advanced” room, if you will. Suites come equipped with a cool lounge area with an extra television and video game consoles. Guests can choose from either a Nintendo Wii or Sony Playstation 3. You can book a room at the Rouge for a cool $250 per night on most days.

No five star dining here, sorry folks. While Hotel Rouge is not home to a swanky upscale restaurant, it is the place to visit one of D.C’s hottest bars. Bar Rouge offers flavor filled dishes (perfect for sharing) and a wide range of drinks and cocktails. A daily continental breakfast buffet is also served in addition to mouth watering desserts. Not only can you try one of the world’s newest and hippest drink concoctions, you can sip a glass of wine from an extensive list that Rouge carries. This ultra sheek and sophisticated hot spot will have you dining among the D.C elite.

So next time you are in Washington D.C, you’ve got to check this place out. You thought San Francisco went all out? Wait until you see the east coast version of the west coast at Hotel Rouge.
