If you color your hair, you probably know how the color can change or fade over time due to exposure to sun, frequent shampooing, and excessive use of hair care products. I was having problems with my hair color turning from a clear, true, light blonde shade to a slightly brassy yellow shade. I was using drugstore quality shampoos for color treated hair and knew it was time for a change.
While roaming through my local salon store with it’s myriad of shampoo and conditioner choices.(it usually overwhelms me), I noticed Biolage Color Care Shampoo. I had used a Biolage product somewhere in the past and had a good experience. The attractive packaging with the green leaf on the bottle further compelled me to give this product a try.l According to the bottle, this product is a very mild cleansing shampoo designed to preserve the longevity of your hair color. That sounded like exactly what I needed.
It was a bit expensive, but I was looking for something that worked and was willing to pay for it. Eager to give it a try, I purchased a bottle and headed home to put it to the test.
As soon as I wet my hair and applied the orange colored shampoo to my hair, I was overcome by the wonderful, fresh, natural scent. So much better than most of the shampoos I’ve used in the past! I was relieved to find it only takes a small amount of this shampoo to develop a good lather. At this price, I wanted to use as little as possible. I noticed it rinsed out easily, leaving no residue and left my hair feeling silky even without the application of a conditioner. This is unusual since my hair tends to be rather dry due to the hair coloring.
Upon drying my hair with a blow dryer, I was impressed with how bouncy, radiant and full of body it was! I was quite pleased with the overall look and feel of my hair. But, would it help to sustain my hair color? Only time would tell.
I’ve continued to use this shampoo over the last few months and found it’s made a remarkable improvement in the longevity of my hair color. I no longer experience the appearance of the brassy, yellow shade that was such a problem with other color care shampoos I’ve used. This shampoo does exactly what it says it does on the bottle.
I’ve also found this shampoo to be much more economical than I originally thought since it takes so little shampoo to achieve a rich lather. A 16 ounce bottle for which you would pay around $10.00 will last quite a while. I also like the fact that Biolage does no animal testing.
Needless to say I’m a fan of this product!
