Review: Lacoste Essential, the New Fragrance for Men

Lacoste

My brother wears Lacoste Essentials, which is the newest fragrance for men. When he quickly scurries by me on his way out from work, I get a giant whiff of what smells like ‘way too much perfume’.

At first I had no idea what the scent was, so a quick peek into his room, I was able to locate exactly what he was stinking like. It was Lacoste Essentials.

The bottle was relatively big, and had a pop out glass sculpture of the infamous Lacoste gator on it. Turn it around, and there is where you find the word Essentials written in all capitol lettering. It’s not an attractive bottle; but hey, it is for men, I don’t think many men seek out sexy bottles like us gals do.

I sprayed some of the perfume onto my wrists and let it dry.

The scent was not horrible, but it was also not original at all. Lacoste Essentials had that same frigging bug spray type smell that nearly all mens perfume/cologne leave behind.

I personally don’t know why, or what it is about mens fragrance that attract them to buying something that makes them smell like OFF!

I’m used to it though, and I guess I sort of like it now, because I smell it all of the time. Bug spray perfume for men.

According to the Lacoste website though, this perfume has top notes, middle notes, and a base note. Me though, I’m not smelling it. I smell one smell, and that smell is OFF mosquito spray.

Guys though, they seem to like this weird bug spray scent, so I can’t really knock it.

Pricing:

So, this is probably where I have the biggest problem. Lacoste Essentials comes to nearly $70.00 a bottle. For something that smells like bug spray, thats just ridiculous. Especially seeing how you can get that same OFF smell in cheap dollar store mens fragrances.

But…

those dollar store fragrances don’t have any last. Lacoste Essentials does. I sprayed it on my wrists, and swear to God I woke up the next morning to the scent still on me. Now keep in mind I sprayed directly on my skin. Usually perfume will not last long at all on your skin. Lacoste Essentials though lasts long, and it lasts strong. So I just have to give it props there.

Overall:

I’m not loving it, but I certainly don’t hate it. Men will most likely like it though because it has a very masculine kick to it (bug spray), that they all seem to like.

Where To Buy:

You can pick up a bottle of Lacoste Essential at any local Sak’s, Bloomingdale’s, and other high end department stores. You can also pick up a bottle by google searching the name of the perfume. Odds are you’ll scoop it up cheaper online. You can also pick up the fragrance as an after shave, deodorant spray/stick, or shower gel.

Cool Tip-

If you don’t feel like dropping $70.00 on the bottle of perfume, you can click here, fill out the form, and have a free sample sent right to your door. So try it, before you buy it, because it may not be for everyone.
