Renaissance Fair, Renaissance Faires

Late summer and autumn in New England are beautiful times. Renaissance Fairs are pleasant ways to spend a weekend day out in the fresh outdoor air. The Renaissance Fairs are outdoor events with a cast of colorful costumed characters recreating England in the Middle Ages. Following are some Renaissance Fairs in New England.

Connecticut Renaissance Fair
Hebron, Connecticut
September 29 to October 21 weekends

9th annual Fair features 40 hours of entertainment daily, with jousting knights, armored combat, exotic foods wandering minstrels, fire eaters, sword swallower’s, crafters magicians, games and more. The fair is a mythical journey into the romantic era of legend King Arthur and the Brave Knights of the Round Table.

Entertainment includes Archery Contest, Artisan Demos, Brother Donald, Face Painting, Follow the Legend – Finale Show, Harpist – Guy Todd, Hitt & Stabbing Emporium, Kids Courtyard, Mandrakes Mystery, Paragon Jousting, Princess Teatime, Pub Sing, Roderick Russell – Sword Swallower, Rosalita’s Puppets, Sheriff Bracken, SMEE & Blogg – the Singing Executioners, Sudie Magoozy, Sweet Amaryllis, The Bawdy Buccaneers, The Brigands, The buccaneer Blades, The Pope and Cardinal, Tim and Vicky with songs, Tom Foolery and Zoltan the Adequate.

Visitors are encouraged to l join in the fun by dressing in period costume., but it is not required. $15.

King Richard’s Fair
Haverhill, Massachuetts
September 1 – October 21 weekends

80 wooded acre village filled with merriment are royalty, beggars, highwaymen, guards, knights, wenches, swordsmen and artisans roam through the
village entertainment all who come near. Artisans hawk their unique hand made wares.

This is the 26th season of the King Richard’s Fair. New this year are new acts including , Sean of the Dead, Paolo Garbanzo, Majestic Calliforte and boisterous new street performers. In addition, several new performers, villagers, and members of his majesty’s royal court will be appearing.

Artisans of the Realm will be selling costumes, musical instruments, herbs, potions, jewelry, hair adornments, pottery, pewter goblets, crystal jewelry, metal swords & daggers, Celtic clothing, walking staffs, princess crowns, period costumes and hats, capes and so much more.

The King’s Royal Zoo boasts an assortment of exotic animals. Guardian of the Royal Zoo, Bhagavan Autle will be bringing lions, Bengal tigers, ligers (lion-tiger) , snow leopards, Chinese leopards, white Siberian tigers, jaguars and golden tigers. Adorable tiger and lion cubs will also be in attendance.

Delectable food, will be plentiful at King Richard’s Fair. Tempt your tastebuds with exotic fare such as fish & chips, pizza, apple pie, cheese cake, King’s towering Chocolate Cake, Turkey Stew, Queen’s Chili, Thai Specialties , Rack O’Ribs, Brisket Sandwich, and Bakery delights. Quench your thirst with wine, mead or beer.

King Richard’s Faire is southwest of Boston. Tickets $25.
