RPM is a unique and fun place to go in Sacramento. The full name of the location is RPM-Race Place Motor Sports but no one ever calls it that so will just call it what everyone else does, RPM. RPM is located at 3130 Bradshaw Road in Sacramento California. RPM is not the only place like it but it is the only place like it in the Sacramento area, and possibly in all of Northern California.
So what exactly is RPM you may be wondering. RPM is an indoor go-kart race center. If you are old enough to drive a car you may not be to excited about driving something like a go-kart but these are no ordinary go-karts and this is no ordinary go-kart experience. These go-karts are super fast karts. You actually have to wear special racing gear to race these cars and we are not talking about a simple helmet. To race the karts at RPM you get dressed up in real fire suits and real race car helmets.
The races are pretty intense. The experience is something you should try at least once. It is a lot of fun to race these fast little karts. If you have a really competitive and skilled group you can have a lot of fun racing here. The one thing about racing at RPM that I do not like is that they just put you in a car in a line unlike racing where your position is determined beforehand by your speed. So if you get put in the back you are automatically at a disadvantage of having to pass everyone where the person in the front can merely keep people from passing them. While this can be lame if you are a good driver at least they give you print outs of your lap times which makes placement not as important though you still may have a hard time because you may find yourself having to go through a large number of people.
While the RPM experience was overall very good there were a couple things that I do not like about RPM. The first problem I had was having to sign up on a computer and give my information. The other thing I did not like about RPM is the price. While the experience is likely more expensive then a traditional go-kart experience because those karts must go through more gas then normal and you do have additional safety precautions I still fill that the premium paid for RPM over traditional go-karts was high. I felt that while RPM was a lot of fun and would be fun to do more I think that going once for the experience was enough for me I would not go over and over again. I am cheap though so if you are not as cheap as me then it may be worth it for you.
Overall my RPM experience was very positive and I highly recommend you try it at least once as long as you are not afraid. Lets face it: my Mom would not like this place but my Dad would love it.
