Rachael Ray Over-Load – from 30 Minute Meals to 15 Minutes of Fame

30 Minute Meals, Wayne Brady

I’m a Food Network junkie. Rachael Ray started with one show on the network and now has three shows. Over the years she just seemed to get more unbearable to watch. Is this what fame does to someone who was a Gourmet Food Buyer? Or is this the media banking in on her popularity? I don’t know? All I do know is, when any of shows now come on Food Network, I turn them off. I never did before. I even tried to make one of her ‘so-called’ 30 minute meals. Took me almost 2 hours. Really made me believe the food she cooks in 30 minutes is not cooked, and tastes lousy.

So, what is her appeal? I just don’t get it. She reminds me of a sugared-up kid, so hyper all the time. Makes me nervous to watch her, that’s why I don’t anymore. Her catch-phrases are not cute anymore, to over used and annoying. Sure, Emril has, “BAM”, but that is a trade mark. Since when did “Yummo” become cool? (unless your 5 years old).

Rachael’s Food Network shows. ’30 minute meals’, well, it’s a lie and I tired of her being the ‘Burger Queen’. Yes, I get it, put taco spices in ground meat, make a patty, (but don’t forget to score the meat with hands for the perfect size) and voila’ – Taco Burgers! Top them with tortilla chips and your done, in 30 minutes.
$40 Dollars a day. It’s just a travel show of restaurants in a certain area. Nothing more, nothing less. Which leads us to Rachael Ray’s, Tasty Travel. Same show but without a budget. I actually watched these shows. I watched her bite into food and saw her roll her eyes in delight. Um, too much!

Rachael received kudos from Oprah and landed her own daytime talk show. I was amazed. Only in America, kids! Her time slot, for daytime talk show where I live replaced Tony Danza’s two year talk show, who replaced Wayne Brady’s two year talk show – so I’m hoping that RR only has one more year on a talk show. Maybe she’ll be replaced by Paula Deen! Love Paula and her two sons!

I did try to watch Rachael Rays talk show a few times. I actually felt embarrassed for her. She was trying to do a serious interview, but had her sugar-hyped up personality. She is no Oprah. And, of course, she had to cook. Since it’s live, it was evident how uncomfortable she was. She almost stuttered at times while trying to explain her recipe.

Just when you decide NOT to watch any of her shows anymore, she shows up in commercials. First it was Burger King, then Dunkin Donuts. Love it.!Food Network Princess promoting fast food. Go figure?

I give her one more year, and we will see her crash. There are already a ton of rumors out there about her personal life, but I won’t go there. I just don’t want to see anymore of Rachael Ray on TV. 30 minute meals, fine – just like her 15 minutes of ‘fame’. I’m sure she’s taking it to the bank, and thinking of a new burger as I write.
