Clark’s Wallabees – Are They In?

Clarks, Wallabees

Your first look at the Clark Wallabees might scare you. Aren’t these shoes for your grandfather to wear? This question ponders many until one actually tries on a pair of these shoes.

One may ask what kind of style is wallabee? Are these shoes really made out of real leather or is there another source, such as a kangaroo. These shoes look like their stitched together by elves and the sole of the shoe is one of a kind. How can one pay so much money for a shoe that looks like it is ancient and a turn off?

Truth is, the wallabees have a funny look, but on another note they are seemingly attractive. They are very old man comfortable, and despite being very expensive these days, they have unique features such as the plastic strip around the top and the crepe sole.

Wallabees were very popular back in the 80’s with all the Italian preppies, known as the paninare. The Clark Wallabee Boot originated in 1965 when Lance Clark sketched out a progressive moccasin built on a nature-formed last to create the world’s first comfort shoe. Genuine plantation crepe outsole cushions the foot. A nature-formed last allows for a natural toe spread. The EVA footbed has a leather sock liner to keep feet comfortable and dry. The Clark Wallabee Boot is a definite Clarks England Classic. The most wanted type of wallabee is the black leather wallabee, which also has a crepe sole. Many question the leather on these Wallabees because it does not look real. These are perfect nursing shoes.

So, what is the best way to go if one is going to invest in a pair of these luxurious + rich in history Clark wallabees?

Choices, Choices

1) Should one buy low top or high-top Wallabees?

One should buy high tops if they are going to be wearing them with pants. However, shorts and wallabee high tops do not go together at all. Low – tops look much better to me, however those who do not like socks showing do not want to purchase this type of wallabee.

2) What about the color? Should one purchased Black, Brown, or Tan suede Wallabees?

Black is the least popular, but is very easy to match with.
Brown leather is perfect for those who will wear their wallabees when nursing or at other medical professions.

*Tan suede wallabees are in!! I would highly recommend buying these!
