Profiles of Sororities at the UW of Madison

If you are going to attend the University of Madison in Wisconsin, make sure you check out some of the sororities that they have to offer. It is a great way to make new friends and meet new people. You also get to do a lot of good things for charities and the community, plus it is a lot of fun. The UW of Madison has a lot of them to offer also.

The Alpha Chi Omega is a sorority for everyone female. The Alpha Chi members come from all different kinds of areas. Some play sports, some are into music, and some are artists. So matter what you like Alpha Chi is for all females. Their major yearly event is Mr. Alpha Chi. At this event they showcase men like the women would do at a beauty pageant. The money that they make from the event gets donated to victims of physical abuse.

The Sigma Lambda Gamma strives to promote empowerment to all women. They also promote academic excellence and higher education for all women. They make sure that their sorority promotes morals, ethics and education in their daily lives. They get together and throw formals and other parties yearly for their sisters.

The Kappa Delta Chi is Latina founded but also multi-culturally grounded with sisters from a variety of ethnicities. They are a service based group that completes over 300 volunteer hours a semester. The sorority is for women that are leaders and like to help others.

The Lambda Theta Alpha provides others with social and cultural events. They also work with educational programs. They promote leadership and maintain high academic standards. It was the first Latina based sorority at Madison, but they welcome women of all races and ethniticities.

The Chi Omega has been around since 1902 and is the second largest women’s organization in the United States. They donate their time by going to the local child’s ward of the UW and play with the kids or take a trip to a local elementary school and read to the children. They are always hard working and dedicated to whatever they do. They also throw themed parties and formals for their sisterhood.

The Kappa Kappa Gamma is also one of the largest fraternities in America. They put on a lot of charity events also like Hoops for Hope to raise money for children’s cancer research. They base their sorority on long lasting friendships and loyalty. They also throw a lot of themed parties and costume parties.

The Pi Beta Phi prides itself on excellence. They work hard to support others so that they can achieve high goals in their education. They participate in a lot of the UW’s events like Homecoming and Greek Week. What makes this group unique is that they are the only sorority house that has direct access to the lake behind it. So they can be seen in the summer relaxing on the dock and having fun on the water.

The Sigma Delta Tau base themselves on self-confidence and commitment. They are young, talented beautiful women that love to participate in fun and exciting activities. They have chapter weekly and have one sisterhood event monthly like going to a movie or just cooking dinner together. The event that they are known for throwing each year is Broom Hockey. The proceeds from this event go to “Prevent Child Abuse America.” They do not have a sorority house. Instead they spend time at each other’s apartments to get to know one another better in a more intimate setting. They do a lot of volunteering and hanging out as a sisterhood.

The Kappa Alpha Theta was the first Greek Letter Fraternity for women. They have been around at the UW of Madison since 1890. They pride themselves on close friendships, scholarships and service to others. They are very active in volunteering and charity raising events. UNICEF and the humane society are a few of the charities they donate to regularly.

Delta Delta Delta is also one of the largest national sororities. They have been around the UW of Madison for almost 110 years. They are a very close sisterhood. They were also the first sorority that was established without the help of any guy! They do charity events for St Jude’s Hospital and other charities dealing with children. They also participate in many social events throughout the year. They even get together and take shopping trip to Chicago, play laser tag and going ice skating. They are a very close sisterhood.
