The Ryobi AIRgrip ProCross Laser Level is the professional quality tool that does the job of leveling and aligning construction projects or simple at home jobs quickly and easily. The Ryobi Laser Level gives you a laser guide for aligning or leveling any job you have at hand whether it’s a simple job like hanging a picture or a more difficult job like building a deck.

I recently did a job with my landlord and really wish I had one of these things handy, setting framing for pouring a concrete sidewalk is not a tough job but this would have made it even easier. Getting a straight line does not have to be the job of fishing out a brightly colored line with a level dangling in the middle or eye balling the points as you look across some stick level. You can get the professional results that a good job requires from the Ryobi AIRgrip ProCross Laser Level.

The Ryobi Laser Level is a laser device that hangs in a housing that turns completely around and moves up and down about an inch. The housing for the laser is fitted inside a base that has an air pump for attaching the level to a smooth wall and for other attaching schemes.

The batteries for the laser level are in the upper housing and the batteries for the air pump are in the base. The adjustment for the vertical to move it around a room or area is on the top and the height adjustment is on the bottom or base.

The Ryobi Laser level model Ell0006 comes with the laser level itself, a handy and protective carry case, a multi-function base, hook and loop strap, rough surface adapter, tripod adapter, two push pins, four AA batteries and a manual. The Ryobi Laser Level is very easy to use once you get the plastic protective tab out and install the batteries.

Self-leveling mechanism eliminates the need for bubble levels

Fine adjustment knob allows up to 1″ of vertical change without repositioning of tool

If you purchase the Ryobi Laser Level don’t think it’s broken when you open it up and see it hanging crooked in the level body and not moving. The laser portion is inside the body of the level and placed in a crooked position with a plastic tab that protects it during shipping, silly me. Pull the tab out from the battery compartment, load in two batteries here and two in the other battery door and your ready to level your entire house, sort of.

The top of the laser level has the section with the laser and rotates as well as moves up and down in the base for you to easily move the laser around a room or job site. The base includes the height adjustment knobs and the battery compartment for the small air pump that suctions the base onto a wall or other surface.

The kit even includes a rough surface adaptor or rubber ring that goes on the rubber ring on the back of the base. This thicker rubber ring makes the suction cup adhere to rougher wall surfaces like stucco or plaster and makes a good tight grip when using the air pump to suction it to a wall.

You also have the bottom screw hole and adapter to mount the laser level onto a tripod for convenient work at a job site. This is truly a small contractor’s type of tool with its easy to use laser level in both the horizontal and vertical positions. The power button on the top of the laser level has three on settings; vertical, horizontal and both on.

The laser level is very simple to use for things like inside work where a small area of wall is handy. Simply place the rubber suction cup against the wall and press the side orange button, you’ll hear the air pump work. When it is truly stuck to the wall simply press the orange button again. The Ryobi Laser Level will stick to the wall for a good long time and not come off as long as it is smooth. If the wall is rough you can use the rubber adapter that works well on surfaces like plaster but not on much else.

The surface has to be pretty smooth like plaster board or drywall in order for the suction cup to work even with the adapter. But the Ryobi laser level was meant for this type of hanging on a smooth wall like inside a home for jobs like hanging pictures and curtains. This would be ideal for ensuring wallpaper is straight when apply those rolls on the walls.

The bottom hole is 5/8 inch and has the brass adapter to change it to the smaller ¼ inch that a photography tripod uses. The larger hole is for tripods that contractors often use but you can also use the multi-function base and the hook and loop tape to secure the level to poles or other objects. The base has the two slots for the Velcro strap as well as angled holes for the two push pins to secure the base onto a wood surface like a beam.

The base easily snaps onto the laser level for a good secure fit and makes for many different secure ways to attach the level to a variety of objects. The laser level is a very handy tool for leveling objects using the bright laser as your guide.

The Ryobi AIRgrip ProCross Laser Level has several ways to secure or hold the level for many jobs and works very well for marking lines vertically or horizontally. The laser can be seen across rooms and does a great job for telling if things are crooked or straight like wallpaper, stairs or curtain rods. The laser can be set in one spot and used around a room easily without having to constantly move the tool around for vertical applications.

For various height applications you should try to center the laser level before attaching it to a wall or other surface so you get the most from the small travel distance vertically of the level. While one inch movement up and down may not seem like a lot it is fine when you take into consideration the variety of mounting methods you can use when first setting up the Ryobi Laser Level.

The Ryobi AIRgrip ProCross Laser Level works very well and can be seen quite clearly in broad daylight with good sun. The laser is bright and easily seen across a variety of surfaces like stone, concrete and wood.

The laser device inside that hangs down has some sort of magnet that helps steady the laser to get quicker readings. This magnet also makes inserting the batteries a bit of a mental challenge as they float around in the compartment if you try to install them one at a time. Just put the batteries in side by side at the same time and small problem solved.

Using the laser level is simply a matter of finding out where the level line should be about and finding some way to secure it. The wall should be nice and smooth for use with the suction cup but if all else fails the two push pins can be used to hold it onto any surface like wood or even Styrofoam. The strap is a nice one for poles or beams and the holes for the tripod make the Ryobi Laser Level a nice choice for a multitude of attaching schemes.

I highly recommend the Ryobi AIRgrip ProCross Laser Level for small do it yourself jobs and small contractor work where precision and versatility are the standard.
