Product Review of Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener for Expecting Moms

Expectant Moms, Expectant Parents, Expecting Moms

Bebe Sounds is a Prenatal Heart Listener that claims to enable expectant parents to listen to their unborn baby’s heartbeat. The Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener is a low-tech listening device that does amplify sounds from inside the expectant mother. It is just not possible to tell exactly who is making all those noises, mom or baby.

Expectant mothers are anxious to get to know the baby growing inside. Expecting Parents look forward to ultrasound visits so they can get a glimpse of that little baby. Any product that offers a chance for an expectant parent to get to know their baby will draw interest, including the Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener.

Some expecting moms will love this product, others will be disappointed that they cannot really hear their baby. If you buy it, just be aware that it may not pick up the sounds you really want to hear.

Product Claims

The product claims to allow parents to hear their baby’s heartbeat. There is a huge disclaimer that lets consumers know if they don’t use it properly, they will have no results.

The baby product also has a feature to record sounds, and to email them. Not many people besides parents and grandparents will really want to hear the recording.

How Well Does the Product Work?

When you do use the product properly, you still may have no results. The mother’s heartbeat may be too loud. The baby may be in a position that makes hearing the heartbeat difficult to hear.

Parents will definitely hear something: gas, hiccups, rumblings, and even unrecognizable noises. It is just hard to tell if the sounds are coming from the mom or the baby.

What I Love About Bebe Sounds

What I love about Bebe Sounds is the concept, more than the execution. Also, using the product gives tired and expectant moms an excuse to go and lie down. For expecting women who are always on the go, and feel guilty when they relax, using the Prenatal Heart Listener gives you the illusion, at least, that you are doing something.

Having the product gives moms extra time to just sit, listen and relax. It also gives expecting parents an extra chance to bond. Even if no noises are heard, or the noises are unclear, it is a quiet time to share with your partner.

What I Would Change About Bebe Sounds

A couple of years ago, the Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener came with a set of small, round and almost flat “speakers.” The speakers would attach to the Bebe Sounds product to allow the expectant parents to talk or play music for the unborn baby. The Bebe Sounds product had an adapter that could attach to a portable CD player. There was even a Bebe Sounds CD of classical music.

Those little speakers were the reason I actually bought the Bebe Sounds monitor. I thought they would be easier to use than trying to unfold a pair of regular headphones, or somehow attach headphones my belly.

I would add those little speakers back into the packaging for expecting parents. They sat nicely, and did not move, and did not need to be attached to the skin. Those speakers allowed me to share music listening time with my unborn son. I even read to him when I was so inclined, speaking into the microphone that also came with the product. I would add that microphone back into thepackaging as well. (CSO)
