Product Review: Esencia Shampoo by Samy

Salon Products

Samy hair products are a slightly upper end shampoos, conditioners, and styling products. Samy has a new product out called Esencia, which prides itself in being organic and natural. These Samy products are sold in such stores such as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Ulta, and Kroger. Samy products claim to be salon products, but I do not see these products in salon. On a recent shopping trip of mine to one of the above aforementioned stores, I noticed this new product, Esencia by Samy, on the shelf with a free after mail in rebate form attached to it. Since I love to try new products I gave it a try. It was priced at $7.99.

Packaging
I purchased the Esencia by Samy Hydrating Shampoo with the scents of white lotus, barley and nettle. It comes in a 12 ounce brown bottle with orange print. The lid is like a large ball that screws off. I usually prefer lids that are flip top, so that you don’t have to worry about them falling out of your slippery hands in the shower.

Performance
Esencia by Samy in white lotus has a mild scent to it. It is fresh and clean smelling. The lather is decent, but I often have to add extra water to my hair while washing it in order to make the lather spread throughout my skull and hair. It does make my hair feel clean. On the bottle of Esencia, it says this hydrating shampoo replenishes moisture and restores manageability. My hair does feel soft after washing with it, even before I add conditioner. The consistency that the shampoo comes out of the bottle is nice and thick, not too watery. It is clear in color with a slight yellow or gold tint to it. It does leave a slight fragrance in your hair which lasts throughout the good part of day.

Ingredients
This product is advertised as being 95.8% natural with certified organic ingredients, as listed on the bottle. Esencia by Samy has purified water as the first ingredient, which means it is mostly made of water. Also listed on the bottle is that it is Sulfate and Paraben free, phthalate free, no propylene glycol, no artificial colors, no animal testing, and made with natural plant extracts. Several of the other ingredients on the Esencia shampoo are certified organic by one of 2 different agencies.

Overall I would say that I like this product. It has a nice fresh scent and good consistency. Although I do wish it lathered more, it does get my hair clean with no leftover residue. I like the product packaging as it looks different from other products on the shelf. Esencia by Samy is priding itself in being natural and organic which is great for the environment. I also give them props for not testing on animals. I think the product is priced a bit high, which other products working just as well that are priced cheaper. On a scale of 1-5 stars, I would give it 4.
