Product Review : Cococare ® Cocoa Butter Lip Balm

Cocoa Butter, Lip Balms, Lip Treatment

Cococare Cocoa Butter Lip Balm is an inexpensive stick of lip balm that leaves your lips feeling smooth and nurtured. It doesn’t burn when applied and feels good under lipstick. Cococare Cocoa Butter lip balm is perfect for a night-time lip treatment as it conditions and protects your lips. The company website explains that cocoa butter is derived from the cocoa bean and provides a barrier that helps retain and restore the moisture that your skin loses from cleansing and exposure to the elements. The Cococare Cocoa Butter Lip Balm retails for as low as 99 cents and can be purchased at major pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreen’s, and Rte-Aid or ordered directly from the website: www.cococare.com.

I was first introduced to Cococare Cocoa Butter lip balm by way of a college friend who swore by the results of this lip balm and had a couple sticks warehoused in her apartment. She made sure to stock up each year because they were truly a good product. So, she gave me stick and I’ve been a fan of the Cococare brand ever since.

While growing up I seemed to always have really dry skin and my lips were easily chapped. When I was old enough to purchase my own products I made sure to always keep sticks of lip balm in each jacket pocket, book bag or purse I owned. I vowed never to be caught “chappy” again. There was only one problem, the lip balms that I used always left my lips feeling “addicted”. It was like my lips could never truly feel nourished or healthy without the some lip balm. The dryness was masked over and what resulted was a thin protective layer of skin that formed on top of my lips. Not flattering at all.

Cococare Cocoa Butter doesn’t cause a layer of skin to form on my lips. This coco butter lip balm doesn’t sting and it always glides on effortlessly. Cococare Cocoa Butter lip balm comes in a .15 oz tube that is usually available until late fall or winter (depending upon the region). Please be careful here. There is another tube which isn’t only for the lips. It’s not labeled “lip balm” at all but it includes care for the lips and it’s also made by Cococare. It reads 100% cocoa butter “the yellow stick”. In some regions of the United States this larger size takes the place of the smaller lip balm during the late fall and winter months in most pharmacies.

I found myself in the pharmacy looking for my little magic stick and all I found was this chunky sized version. I remembered seeing a girl in my 8th grade class who was notorious for whipping out this “yellow stick” for her lips. So, I tried the “yellow stick” as a lip balm and I was unpleasantly surprised. I never repeated that mistake again. Let’s just say by the end of winter I rushed to CVS and copped a handful of my Cocoa Butter lip balm beauties. I was like a squirrel gathering nuts.

The average person looks for a lip balm that will:

1) heal and soothe,

2) be inexpensive

3) be light and smooth feeling

4) leave no “addictive” feelings to the lips

This product satisfied these qualities for me. At the present time it is undefeated amongst coco butter lip balms everywhere.
