Fine Motor Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Beach
For a fine motor activity, you might have your students remove sea shells from wet sand in the sensory table. Then let them wash the sand off of the shells in buckets of water using their hands and fingers. You might even let them gently brush the shells with toothbrushes. Emphasize that they should clean the shells gently, so as not to break them.

At the easel, let each of your preschool students paint a large “beach ball.” Cut a circle out of white paper for the beach ball. Older students may cut out the circle themselves. Let the preschoolers brush paint the beach balls with bright colors and designs of their choice.

Pre-math Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Beach
These activities are simple and fun! Set out muffin tins and a collection of small shells. Have your students count out and put 5 shells in each muffin tin cup. To make it more interesting, write numbers 1-10 in each opening and have your students add the appropriate number of shells to each space.
Secondly, set out muffin tins, a bucket of sand and measuring spoons or teaspoons. Let your preschool students count out the appropriate number of sand spoonfuls for each muffin tin cup, dropping them in as they count.

For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters B and b lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 5.
For older students, provide an example of the letters B and b and the number 5. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand. Encourage them to write out the letters and the number as many times as they can.
Small Group Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Beach
Let your students, one small group at a time, play beach at the sensory table. Have the sensory table prepared with a mound of wet sand in the center (an island), surrounded by water. Add small toy boats, pieces of cut up fabric for beach towels, small shells and small toy people.
