Places to Visit in Maui, Hawaii

Haleakala, Maui, Nature Valley

When you hear the words Hawaii or Maui, the first word that comes to your mind is paradise. Well after vacationing in Hawaii for the second time, I can definitely conclude that it is in fact paradise. My wife and I had the opportunity to stay in Maui, Hawaii this past summer and it was a blast!

Some uninformed people only see beaches, tropical weather and hot women as being Hawaii. While that might be true to an extent, it is not even close to the entire thing. Hawaii has such a rich culture, so many places to visit and explore. The sights in Maui alone were mesmerizing.

My wife and I decided that instead of spending all our time on the beaches, this time around we would explore the culture and innards of Hawaii. We were astounded by the things we saw. This article will list some of the top places to visit in Maui Hawaii.

1. Haleakala National Park

Let me say that this is a MUST see. If you miss out on Haleakala National Park, you are out of your mind. I suggest getting there early and witnessing a spectacle, sunrise at Haleakala. It was mesmerizing! Hiking to the top provides amazing views of Hawaii; at the top you can see the big island of Hawaii. The park is a dormant volcano so don’t worry, it isn’t dangerous. If you’re in Maui, Hawaii, head to Haleakala, you wont be disappointed.

2. Waianapanapa Park

Black sand, righteous waves, a cave to explore leading to a beautiful view of the ocean, beautiful tropical surroundings, what more can you want? Waianapanapa State Park is exotic, it’s beautiful, it’s secluded, it’s a must see.

3. Makahiku Falls

For you nature lovers, this is the place to visit. Take your time making your way to the 185 foot falls and just take in all of the nature, its beautiful and really hard to describe using words. Its something you must see for yourself and take in the majestic beauty of the area.

4. Hamoa Beach

I know, I stated that we avoided the beach for most of our trip. This beach though, is a world famous beach; you just can’t miss out on it. In my opinion, it’s the number one beach in the world. I’ve been to the Bahamas and other island countries, no beach can match this one. The beach is engulfed in tropical plants; it’s not too small or too big. The sand is gorgeous, the water is crystal clear and the surf is off the hook. Its simple perfect!

5. Iao Valley

Nature valley full of rich Hawaiian history and culture. I suggest you take 2 days to explore the valley because there is so much to see that it would a shame to cram it into one day. This is an example of nature at its finest; its beauty is far beyond words. The most visible and noticeable part has to be the Iao Needle standing over 1,000 feet high, it represents the Hawaiian God of the Ocean.

Overall, Maui, Hawaii has many places to visit, in fact if you spent one day at each of Maui’s attractions, you would probably have to stay for at least a month. These are the top 5 best places to visit in Maui Hawaii based on my wife’s and my own opinion. I would highly recommend you visit all 5 if your looking to spend time in Maui.
