Pirates Dinner Adventure-the Best Dinner Theatre for Landlubbers

Bbq Pork, Mai Tai, Vegetarian Lasagna

Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park, CA is a very unique dinner theatre experience. Based on the pirates of the Caribbean (not to be confused with the Disneyland ride), the story is fun and encourages audience participation.

There is a pre-dinner show in the lobby area with appetizers (free) and drinks (for purchase), so arrive early to see how the story starts. They take in two or three men who become part of the show later on. This is also a good time to explore the gift shop.

As showtime draws near, they start calling out colors of tables to which you’ve been assigned. Once all the guests are inside and seated, they go around the room looking for volunteers for the pirate games that will be played, then the pirates are announced. Everyone is encouraged to cheer for their pirate, and “Boo!” for the other pirates. All in good fun, of course!

The food is simple but tasty. You have a choice of a half chicken with broccoli and Caribbean rice, or BBQ pork loin with broccoli and mashed potatoes. You can also pre-order a vegetarian lasagna or a kid’s meal. Each meal comes with either soup or garden salad, and a dessert. There is also a choice of soft drinks, water, or coffee, as well as alcoholic beverages. The Caribbean Mai Tai is fantastic!

Throughout the show, audience participation is required for some of the games, such as passing the loot bag around, and lots of glass-waving and cheering. The show itself is fun to watch as the pirates all compete in the games as well as trying to capture the hand of the princess who has been kidnapped. They change the story up a bit for Christmas. There are acrobats who who bounce, flip, and climb, and an aerialist who climbs and spins on long drapes of fabric.

As the show concludes, the wait staff go around and collect the children for a final act. The children are dressed up as the English Army with muskets, and they capture the pirates!

The whole experience is fun, and the actors are very good with the kids that are called up to participate, and the production is very careful to make sure the cast and participants are safe during the show

Tickets: adults (12 and older) $57.95 + tax; children (3-11) $38.95 + tax. Children under age 3 are free of charge and must sit on an adult’s lap during the show.
