There are many wonderful piano teachers in the Grand Rapids MI area. My daughter had the pleasure of learning from a few of them. Learning to play the piano is a wonderful gift that you can keep for the rest of your life. Here are some wonderful people who share their gift and talent with their students.

The Hanley Music Studio – Teacher Jeanne Hanley has been playing and teaching piano for many years. She opened her first piano studio at the age of 15. She is a dedicated teacher show is active as both a solo and collaborative pianist. Her credentials are a Bachelor of Arts in Music with honors from Central Michigan University; A Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While working on her Master’s degree she served as a graduate teaching assistant in group piano, and was named to the Incomplete List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students for four consecutive semesters.

She taught at Central Michigan University, the University of Illinois at Urbana -Champaign, and the Stella Royce Music Program at the David D. Hunting YMCA Grand Rapids MI. She was the Music Coordinator of the Stella Royce Music Program and founded their music camp. She is currently the artistic director of the Stella Royce Music Camp.

The Hanley Music Studio is privately owned and operated music studio teaching classical piano lessons. The studio also offers instruction in theory, ear training, and music history and performance and competition opportunities.

Hugh D. – Hugh has been playing professionally since high school. He worked his way though college by entertaining and giving privet lessons.

Hugh studied at Michigan State and later at Wayne State where he earned his bachelors degree in Jazz and Contemporary Media.

Hugh believes that students learn better in a relaxed environment. He loves to have his student’s performance. He feels that students are more motivated when they have a performance to look forward to.

Megan Vos – Megan has been teaching voice and piano lessons for three years. She is a preschool teacher for music at Gymboree Play and Music of Grand Rapids. She teaches at Keystone Arts Academy, part of Keystone Community Church.

She received her music education from Cornerstone University.

Music Moves LLC – Offer three different types of lessons.

They offer a two 17 week semesters of 45 -60 minute classes for Preschoolers and Kindergartners.

Two 17 week semesters of at least 40 minutes is offered that train musicians who can hear what they play and play what they hear. This lesson is for students entering first grade and above.

They have five group lessons/performances during the semester.

They offer adult piano lessons for parents who would like instruction that will help them better understand the curriculum.
