Patrick Dempsey Becomes Enchanted This Fall in Disney’s Upcoming Film

Disney Films, James Marsden

If you can’t get enough of McDreamy, on Grey’s Anatomy, you can catch him this November on Disney’s new movie, “Enchanted”. Patrick Dempsey stars in this delightful Disney movie with a twist. Disney does not disappoint with adding new insight onto classic movies. Enchanted”, starts off in the animated fairy tale world of Andalusia, where the beautiful Princess Giselle, (played by Amy Adams), meets and falls in love with the handsome Prince Edward, (played by James Marsden). Upon finding out of this love, the prince’s mother, the evil villainous Queen Narissa, (played by Susan Sarandon), uses her dark magic powers to transport the princess out of the animated world, into the one place in the universe where there is no true love: modern day Manhattan. The movie then turns to real life, and this real life princess must learn to survive in New York City, all while trying to find her way home again to her true love. Giselle soon finds herself falling for a friendly but flawed divorce lawyer Robert, (played by McDreamy), who she meets on the mean streets of New York. Robert is the first person who shows kindness and compassion towards the Giselle, and he helps her to survive in this strange and dangerous new world. Braving many dangers, Prince Edward finds the portal to the real world and comes to New York in search of rescuing his damsel in distress. The evil Queen Narissa, follows in pursuit of both of them, and it is up to Robert to help the lovebirds fall in love again, fight the queen, and find their way back home. Sounds like an impossible task for Mr. McDreamy.

Enchanted” headlines an all star cast including Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, and Idina Menzel. The music for this film has been written by songwriter and Broadway composer Alan Menken. Menken has worked on numerous Disney Films such as: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules, and Home on the Range. Fellow Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz whose credits include Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt and Wicked, has also contributed lyrical talent to the film. The animation scenes have all been done in 2-D animation, as a tribute to the past Disney films such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Enchanted” is also the first theatrically released Disney American film to feature traditional animation since, Winne the Pooh: Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. The theatrical trailer for this movie was debuted at the opening of “The Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.” In my opinion this was a brilliant move on Disney’s part to get the movie out there, considering the enormous advertising campaign they did for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Disney is hyping the movie up to be the motion picture event of the holidays. It is a children’s movie, but the adult humor and story could just make this movie a family hit. It is quite a quaint story, filled with romance, action, music, with refreshing humor, in true Disney style. It is sure to be a hit come this November.
