Top 3 Grey’s Anatomy Fan Sites: Outlets for Fans of McDreamy and Gang

While it’s disappointing that fans are subject to reruns of the popular ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy these past few weeks, the explosion of the show onto our airwaves two years ago has resulted in a faithful fan following of the drama at fictional Seattle Grace Hospital. We’re happy to see the reconciliation of leading character Dr. Meredith Grey with the ever-so-delectable Dr. Derek Shepard, aka “McDreamy.” With a popular show like Grey’s Anatomy comes a multitude of fan sites. Here’s my list of the top three available on the Internet.

Grey’s Anatomy Fan Site #1: “Grey’s Anatomy Insider” (www.greysanatomyinsider.com)

The best Grey’s Anatomy fan site out there, “Grey’s Anatomy Insider” has the most extensive selection of memorable Grey’s Anatomy quotes, including monologues by title character Dr. Grey, verbal exchanges between rivals McDreamy and McSteamy, and emotional outpourings by the likes of practically every intern that graces the screen every Thursday night. The site also has a huge collection of photos from Grey’s Anatomy, including one by McSteamy that I could just stare at for hours, even if he is a cheater and rival to main character Derek.

Perhaps the best section of “Grey’s Anatomy Insider” is in fact the selection of quotes. Upon searching them I find evidence that even Addison Montgomery is human, and it takes me back to the best moments in the first two seasons, like the introduction of character Callie Torres and the back story between Dr. Richard Webber, chief of staff at Seattle Grace, and Meredith’s mother.

Complete with episode recaps, fan forums and pics from Grey’s Anatomy actors in real life, “Grey’s Anatomy Insider” is deserving of the best Grey’s Anatomy fan site on the web.

Grey’s Anatomy Fan Site #2: “Grey Matter: From the Writers of Grey’s Anatomy” (www.greyswriters.com)

A blog from the writers of Grey’s Anatomy, this may not be a traditional fan site, but “Grey Matter” provides valuable insights into the composition of each episode, the motivations behind our favorite Grey’s Anatomy characters and an opportunity for fans to comment directly on the blog. Reading the thoughts of the Grey’s Anatomy writers, if carefully analyzed, can even provide some spoilers as to upcoming episodes of the show. Archives let fans go back to old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and relive some of the most touching moments, like when writer Krista Vernoff remembers when Dr. Miranda Bailey goes to talk to Izzie after the death of her fiancee Denny Duquette. Bailey acknowledges her part in what happened to Denny, and softly tells Izzie, “That’s enough muffins.” Visiting the archives of “Grey Matter” allows fans to relive such moments.

Grey’s Anatomy Fan Site #3: “ABC: Grey’s Anatomy” (www.abc.go.com/primetime/greysanatomy/index)

The official site for Grey’s Anatomy is deserving as one of the top fan sites for the show because it allows fans to view past episodes we might have missed when they first aired. I admit I’ve gone back to re-watch certain episodes of Grey’s Anatomy more than once, including the scene in Emerald City Bar when Meredith and McDreamy start over and begin a new relationship. McSteamy, however sexy, had been trying all day to convince Meredith to let go of Derek, and perhaps begin a relationship with him. For a second, you think Meredith might succumb, and then McDreamy appears and erases all chances of that. The “Grey’s Anatomy Moment” feature on the ABC site is another excellent feature, providing a chance for fans to relive the most memorable moments of recent episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.

There are many more fan sites dedicated to the ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy, but I chose these three for their unique features and extensive collections of quotes, pictures and episode recaps that could keep fans of Grey’s Anatomy entertained for days on end. I look forward to the return of all new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, especially after hearing hints of a possible engagement between currently-estranged characters George O’Malley and Callie Torres. Happy viewing!
