Joseph Draps started the Godiva Chocolatier began 80 years ago in Brussels, Belgium. Believe it or not, the company was truly named in honor of Lady Godiva.

Domingo Ghirardelli came to the United States from Italy in 1849. He thought he would become rich in California Gold Rush, but instead he ended up opening a tent store in Stockton, California, where he sold confections and other supplies.
