Old Navy’s Plus Size Section “Phased Out”

Old Navy, Plus Size Clothing, Plus Sized Women

For the longest time, Old Navy was a store that catered to everyone. Men, women, children and even dogs! There was a section for average sized women and plus sized women. Then, the store even put a section in for maternity! With clothes for every style and size and a price that was affordable, Old Navy was a favorite store among many shoppers.

However, a recent visit to Old Navy to find an outfit for a party yielded negative results. After searching through the store and asking a few sales associates, it was brought to our attention that Old Navy has “phased out” the plus size section of the store. The store says that the plus size section was simply not as profitable as other items that could be sold in the store. While this may be true, the store will most likely lose many customers. Because the “average” size woman in our country is wearing a size 14, the “average” woman actually is considered plus size.

You can still order plus size clothing online at the Old Navy website. However, any plus sized woman knows that finding the perfect fit is hard. Most of the time it is not possible to choose clothes off the shelf and have them fit perfectly. You will be able to return the clothing if they do not fit properly, but your shipping fees will not be returned or refunded.

Perhaps in the future Old Navy will realize that plus sized women are more than willing to purchase clothing from places that actually carry the sizes in the store for convenient try-ons. Unitl then, I will not be purchasing my clothing from them. For now, there are still plenty of other stores that do carry the sizes that plus size women need and deserve to try on in the store.
