NTI: Work from Home for the Disabled

Find Work, Work from Home Jobs

NTI or National Telecommuting Institute is an educational and job-matching company that focuses on finding and creating work at home jobs for the disabled. They can be noted as a virtual job rehabilitation agency that helps the disabled find, in this case, telecommuting or work from home jobs. I think this is a company that should be commended.

If anyone should have the opportunity to work from home, it should be the disabled. They need it more than anyone else. It is very difficult for disabled people to find employment due to transportation and other issues, so working from home is one of the best opportunities they could have. NTI works with VR counselors in order to find work from home employment opportunities for the disabled.

NTI doesn’t just find the jobs they also train people to do the various work. Most of the jobs are customer service and clerical but they also have technical, transcription, and even the rare data entry jobs available. Many of the companies NTI have worked with are well-known, stable companies, including the government. There are absolutely no fees and you can work either full-time, or, if you want to keep receiving your disability benefits, you can work part-time. Most jobs are part-time but you may be able to work for more than one client and some of the hours available are very close to full-time.

Let’s look at the various positions they offer.

All the jobs require high-speed Internet and you will need to pass a criminal background check, but you will not have to pay for it. The first positions are customer service work, which involves taking inbound calls for various clients. You will need to be computer literate, be able to type at least 20 wpm, and a headset is also necessary. NTI will provide any special equipment necessary for this job. The customer service work pays a little over $9.00 an hour and the hours are between 15-35 hours a week.

The next position is transcription. You will need at least two years experience as a medical transcriptionist. Next is a quality control position, which involves monitoring customer service calls. You will need a customer service or call center background and will need a computer with Windows XP and 512MB RAM. The company also offers from time to time data entry work and clerical work. Just complete an application and if they contact you they will match your skills with what they have available. They do seem to get in contact with applicants fairly quickly.

Some of the jobs will pay hourly, while others may pay per record, entry, line, or per minute it all depends on the available job. The company also hires bilinguals, so if you are bilingual I would suggest you could also apply for a work at home job with NTI. One last thing to mention is that most of the work seems to be pretty consistent. This is a perfect opportunity for those who are disabled and would like to work from home, make a decent income, still receive disability benefits, and feel productive.
