Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles

Dill, Dill Pickles, Food Writer, Tuna Salad

At an anniversary party that I recently attended, I had the opportunity to try a brand of baby dill pickles that I had not eaten before. The pickles that I am referring to are Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles. These pickles are smaller than full sized dill pickles and they are quite tasty. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles .

Size
The net weight of the container of Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles being reviewed here is 24 fluid ounces. According to the package label, the container holds 16 one ounce servings. In physical size, the container is fairly large and requires a decent amount of storage space in one’s refrigerator, approximately the same amount of space as a large jar of mayonnaise.

The pickles are roughly half the size of many dill pickles, which I think makes them easier to eat.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 24 fluid ounce jar of Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $3.49.

While this price does seem somewhat high to me, it is actually inline with the prices of similar products. These are definitely high quality pickles and their per serving price works out to approximately $0.21c per serving, which seems much more reasonable.

Texture
These pickles feature a very pleasing texture that is attained by the use of high – quality ingredients and expert pickling methods. As soon as I took a bite of one of these pickles at the party recently, I was impressed. Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles offer a pleasing ‘snap’ when they are bitten – into and their texture makes them a great accompaniment to virtually any type of sandwich.

Taste / Flavor
When I ate some of these pickles alongside a tuna salad sandwich and potato chips, they really hit the spot. Normally, when I eat pickles, I prefer eating bread and butter, or sweet pickles. Having been a restaurant cook for many years, I have tasted many varieties of dill pickles. The flavor offered by Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles is very pleasing and to me, they taste the way a dill pickle should taste.

These pickles feature a flavor that maintains a nice balance of salt and vinegar, the two primary ingredients in dill pickles, besides the cucumbers. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles an 8.5 rating.

Packaging
Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles are packaged in a fairly heavy duty glass jar. The front label is black and yellow and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information. The jar opens easily and also re – closes effectively.

Overall Rating
Pickles are not an item that I eat on a regular basis. When I’m in the mood for pickles, it’s usually when I’m eating tuna salad or cold cut meat sandwiches. When I recently ate a few Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles at an anniversary party, they accentuated the tuna salad sandwich I was eating wonderfully.

If you’re a fan of dill pickles, chances are, you would really enjoy eating these cukes. Their smaller size makes them more accessible and almost cute. Available at food retailers across America, Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles are a recommended item by this food writer.
