Mother’s Day Gift Ideas Under $ 20.00

Erma Bombeck, Mother's Day Poetry

Every year I see people flocking to their local department store, tossing last minute gift ideas into their shopping cart. Mom knows when you haven’t put much thought into her gift. Mother’s Day should be a celebration of the love you share with your mother, not an obligation.

So, for those of you that are looking for a few helpful gift ideas, I’ve compiled a list of thoughtful presents any Mom would be touched to receive. Don’t forget that Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 10, 2009. Plan ahead, use these great gift ideas, and make this the best Mother’s Day ever!

If mom is a reader, then a book filled with beautiful poetry would make a great Mother’s Day gift. Consider one of these inspirational selections: (Don’t forget to write a personal note inside the cover of the book)

Mother & Daughters: A Poetry Celebration , by June Cotner

A Mother of Sons, by Jayne Jaudon Ferrer

If poetry isn’t up mom’s alley, than she may prefer one of these heartwarming books that are filled with inspiring stories. Any one of them would make a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift.

Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul, by Jack Canfield

When God Created Mothers, by Erma Bombeck

Feathers from My Nest: A Mother’s Reflections, by Beth Moore.

Just about all mom’s have pictures of their children all around the house. Why not give mom a special picture frame to display one her favorite photos? Or better yet, take some new photos she hasn’t seen and put them inside the frame.

This three windowed, Mom/Dad/Me, frame from Target is just beautiful. This gift is sure to put a smile on her face.

A beautifully designed “Family Spirit Mother Frame”, also available at Target, would look great displayed with a family photo.

This gorgeous wooden Mother frame is a personal favorite. Sold by Personal Creations.com, it would have to be ordered online, so plan ahead.

Have you ever noticed that women like things that smell pretty? Well, moms are no different, which is why I recommend a relaxing gift basket from Bath & Body Works. They have several priced at $ 20.00 and below, and they all smell heavenly.

We’ve all seen those commercials for The Snuggie, the blanket with sleeves. If mom is the kind of person that likes to relax in the evening, while reading a book or watching t.v., she may really enjoy having a Snuggie of her own. Every time she uses it, it will be like getting a warm hug from you.

This is something that I do for my mother every year on Mother’s Day. I plant flowers in her garden. Mom isn’t able to do this for herself, but she enjoys the smell and appearance of flowers in her yard. Each year I let her select the flowers she wants, then I purchase them and plant them for her. Every single time she sees her flower garden, she smiles and thinks of me. I highly recommend this gift idea. Depending on the flowers she picks, it may cost a little more than $ 20.00, but seeing her smile is worth it.
