Zen Cart is another great shopping cart system. You can turn your website in to a store in a few easy steps. The thing I like about Zen Cart is that it’s very easy to set up and start using. This shopping cart system is free to use also. This shopping cart also comes with many built in features. Some of the features include multiple payment options, multiple shipping options, unlimited category depth, quantity discounts and a lot more. To see a full list of features for Zen Cart visit their website. In this tutorial I will show you how to install the Zen Cart easily by going through your control panel.

Installing Zen Cart through your Control Panel

Log in to your control panel. If you have more the one website, make sure you log in to the control panel of the website that you wish to install Zen Cart on. Once you are logged in, look for the Fantastico link and click it.

The next page will show a brief description of the shopping cart and a link that you can visit to see exactly what Zen Cart is. Below the description you will see a New Installation link, the amount of space required, and the amount of space that you have available. Make sure that you have enough space before you continue with the installation. To continue with the installation, click on the New Installation link.

The next page will be the first step of the actual installation process. You will need to enter the information that is required in order to install Zen Cart. Install on Domain – If you have sub-domains on this domain you will have more than one option. If you do not have sub-domains then you can leave this field as it is. If you have sub-domains and wish to install CubeCart on a sub-domain, then drop the box down and select the sub-domain.

Install in Directory – In this field you will have two options. Option 1 – You can install the Zen Cart in the root directory. Option 2 – You can install it in a sub-directory. If you install the cart in the root directory you will see the cart when you visit your home page. If you install the cart in a sub-directory then you will have to type in a certain URL to see the cart. Since this is a shopping cart, I would recommend you placing it in the root directory. If you wanted to make a welcome page or something like that then you could put it in a sub-directory. To install the cart in the root directory, simply leave this field blank. If you want to install it in a sub-directory, type in the name of the new directory that you want to use. Make sure that this directory does not exist. For example, you can type in zencart. To access the cart you would type in http://www.yourdomain.com/zencart . Once you have entered all the required information click the Install Zen Cart button.

The next page will tell you that you have chose to install Zen Cart on so and so domain and in so and so directory. If this information is correct click the Finish Installation button. If you wish to change this information then click the back button and change the information.
