More Free Stuff in Texas

Yahoo Groups

In the first article published, I was only able to scratch the surface as far as free items in Texas were concerned. Deciding to go back and look for more, this proved to be an interesting search today.

In looking for free stuff online you have to be careful. Online sites will have a page that features free stuff; this draws you in and then when you click on the other pages in the site, there the items appear that are really for sale.

The Texas Free Stuff Directory homepage has a few different items listed, check it out at: http://texas.uscity.net/Free_Stuff/

Texas Cooking.com has a page that offers Free Stuff and free offers for Texas Cooking Readers such as lottery tickets, cosmetics and etc. They have other pages on the site that offer recipes of different types, a store and Q & A with Ask Dr. John, but be careful because they have a awful lot of ads on the site that are very distracting. Check the site out at:

Of course, each city or town would not be complete without its craigslist of free items listed. People are listing things all the time for free. All you need is the name of the town you are interested in and type in craigslist.org and off you go.

My husband wanted to clean the clutter out of our back yard last summer. He was able to give away a lawnmower, 4 lawn chairs, 2 bicycles and I’m not really sure what else. If you say free in the listing, it’s gone faster than you can say Texas.

Young & Free Texas. Com is a site that specializes in the Texas crowd under age 25. Everything from free days at the zoo to a free Blue Bell Ice Cream tour, it’s all listed on this site. Depending on the area you are interested in or live close to you can fill up a week of entertainment and never spend a dime, except on gas to get there. Entertainment to Miscellaneous, Food & Beverages to Financial Services, and this site has all the links, all you have to do is choose and click. I think I will check it out myself. Go to the site and enjoy.

KLTV the ABC affiliate in Tyler, Longview and Jacksonville featured a story on March 5, 2009 about Karmyn Ramey who knows how to stretch a dollar. She visits freecycle.org and scans the lists of free items. Check out their web site and read her very interesting article of East Texas Recession Survival Guide, saving money, and free stuff.
