Miami’s Best Local Craft Stores

Bead Stores, Joann Fabrics

Whether you need a nation wide chain store or a local treasure, Miami has definitely got it’s crafters covered. In Miami you’ll find anything from stores dedicated to beading to knitting to anything in between.

Rex Art

Rex Art is a well known arts supply store in the Miami area. The store itself was founded in the 1950s by the current owner’s great grandfather. Since then, Rex Art has supplied Miami’s creative community with any supplies the could possibly imagine. It’s signature Don Quijote with a paint brush logo is a testament to Miami’s artists and lives on to this day.

The Knitting Garden

The Knitting Garden is a fairly new craft store in the Coral Gables area. Completely dedicated to the fine craft of knitting, The Knitting Garden offers breathtakingly beautiful high quality yarns as well as weekly workshops. The store’s decor alone is enough to make you fall in love, as the owners have combined their skills to create a homey and creative environment.

Zuhe Beads

On a trip to New York City, I remember being absolutely amazed by the amount of bead shops located all over the city. Consequently I came home wishing that Miami would one day have such a vibrant selection of beading stores.

Over the years, Downtown Miami has seen a fair share of bead stores, however none are quite like what I saw in New York. Then I found Zuhe Beads located in Doral. The store is owned by Denise De Moya, a Dominican born jewelery designer and art lover who wishes to share her passion with Miami’s crafters. Whether you are an experienced jewelry maker or just want to try it out, Zuhe Beads has something for everyone.

Jerry’s Artarama

Jerry’s Artarama has 15 retail stores throughout the U.S. and apparently decided that it would have a vibrant creative base in Miami. They pride themselves on selling their customers quality supplies at unbeatable discount prices.

Miami also has several JoAnn Fabrics and Michael’s stores throughout the area (sometimes even in the same shopping plaza). Bottom line is whatever crafting supplies you are looking for, you are sure to find it in Miami.
