Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade: Review

Adobo

If you like Filipino food, then you will love Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade. It can significantly reduce the time it takes to make adobo from scratch, leaving you more time to spend with your family and friends. One of the main staples in the Philippines is rice. It is eaten for breakfast as well as forming the basis of other meals. Adobo is a combination of meat (usually chicken, beef or pork), fish or vegetables cooked together with vinegar, soy sauce and spices to produce a delicious tasting meal, served with rice.

If you have ever tried homemade adobo, you will agree that it is a very distinctive, tasty dish. But if you are unable to recreate adobo, or you wish to cut back on the time it takes to make this dish, then that is where Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade can come in handy. I was recently given a bottle of Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade. I couldn’t wait to try it out and see if the marinade would taste as good as homemade adobo. It is simple to use.

Directions

Simply marinate 1.1lb of meat of your choice that has already been cut into bite size pieces in 83ml (1/4 cup) of Adobo Marinade for at least 15 minutes. The longer you allow the meat to marinate the better it will taste. If you can, leave the meat to marinate overnight in the fridge. Place it into a securely closed zip lock bag or bowl. When you are ready to cook the meat, heat up 1tbsp of oil in a pan and sauté 1tbsp of fresh crushed garlic before adding the meat to the pan. Cook it until brown, making sure to add the contents of the marinade to the pan during the cooking process. Turn up the heat and bring the meat and marinade to a boil. If the sauce is too thin, add some corn flour to thicken it or a splash of water if you would prefer a thinner consistency. Serve the meat with rice.

Nutrition Information

Each 15ml (1tbsp) serving contains 5 calories, no fat, 450mg sodium, no carbohydrate, and less than 1g protein. Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade is low in calories and fat free. But it is quite high in sodium, due to the soy sauce content.

Taste

I loved the taste of Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade. Although it did taste quite the same as homemade adobo, it was not far off the mark. If you would like to reduce the saltiness of the marinade, reduce the amount that you use in the marinade and add more water to the pan when frying it.

Recommendation

I would recommend Mama Sita’s Adobo Marinade. It is easy to create adobo from the comfort of your own home when you do not have the time to make it from scratch. To learn more about this product, go to www.mamasita.com
