Making a Quick DIY Flower Arrangement

Flowers make any room, homier. There is something about flowers that say more than words. Not only is it fun to buy flowers for special occasions, it is a perfect way to liven up a living room, kitchen, or den. Here is how to make your flower arrangement.

Picking a Vase

Your vase should be clear, as this will make a beautiful bouquet of flowers. If you have any hidden vases in the pantry, use whatever you have. But if you need to go buy one, sometimes you can find discount vases at your local discount store.

When choosing your vase, pick one according to how many flowers you have. A Small bunch of flowers would do better in a smaller vase; and vice versus for a larger bouquet of flowers. If I have a smaller bouquet of flowers, I usually will use a smaller, thinner vase that will showcase the flowers.

Be Creative with your Arrangement

Flowers have a way of expressing your mood. Roses of course represent love and romance. Carnations are more informal and perfect for casual settings. You can also pick flowers that will color coordinate with the colors of a room for a fresh summer look.

Picking the Flowers

Begin by picking your flowers. To show how easy this can be done, we are going to use roses, as they are versatile and beautiful. A quick tip is to keep an eye on the floral section of your local grocery, often you can find discount flowers that make the perfect homemade arrangement.

For today’s flower arrangement, the flowers are going to be loose in the vase, which will make this a quick and easy project to begin with. Start by adding several roses into the vase. Try three or four, depending on your vase. Very quickly, you will see how much room you are going to have inside the face. Assuming this is a slimmer vase, we notice immediately that we don’t have a ton of room.

Baby’s Breath or carnations are perfect “fillers” for the arrangement. To “fill” the flower arrangement, stagger your roses at different lengths in the vase. To do this, you can trim the roses to different lengths, or you can leave the same length. Roses with longer stems look beautiful in a clear vase.

This not only gives depth, but also adds different dimensions to the arrangements. Now we are going to add in some white carnations, which just add versatility to the arrangement. Now add in baby’s breath in between the roses.

Look for holes in the arrangement and snip off pieces of baby’s breath and tuck into any holes in the arrangement. The baby’s breath is a perfect way to finish off the arrangement.

Taking Care of your Flowers

With any arrangement, making sure the flowers have adequate water every day is important to the longevity of your flowers. I usually check flowers in the morning to make sure there is enough water. This is a perfect way to make sure you don’t forget to water the flowers. Of course, find a time that works with your schedule.

Where to Buy your Flowers

One option is to check your local grocery store for single stemmed roses. You can usually get a dozen roses for under $20. You can also call your local florist and see if they have discounts if you only buy the roses as is,

Also, if time is of the essence, you can also check Pro Flowers, priced at $19.99, for beautiful arrangements of flowers. Not only can you get them quickly, but the blooms are vibrant. You can also order the vase, sometimes at no extra charge. Ordering this way, often can save time, and money.
