Make a Tier Cupcake Wedding Cake

Cupcake Cake, Cupcake Wedding Cake

A Tiered Cupcake Wedding Cake has become popular since it appeared on the cover of a Martha Stewart magazine. It seems as if every bride fell in love with its concept. It is all the rage now and couples are buying the tiers and decorating both the cup cake toppings and tiers themselves, according to their own personal wedding theme. The cupcakes can be made from scratch and be larger or you can buy them ready made in any supermarket. It certainly is less expensive when you are your own tier cupcake baker and decorator, so its up to you what method you most prefer. It can also be made in any type or color frostings.

Things You Need

* Paper baking cups
* Baking cupcake pan
* Wedding cake tier
* Cake for top tier
* Decorations for cake
* Cardboard to put under cake

Use your favorite cake or cupcake recipe. Pour the batter into a cupcake pan lined with paper cups to make it easier to remove from the pan. Bake and set them aside to cool. You can then freeze them as is by laying them each flat on a plate or a round card board platter. Making sure that each cup cake does not touch another cup cake gently place them into the freezer section of your refrigerator. If you prefer to buy the cupcakes ready made then buy them the day before the wedding. This way they will be soft inside instead of being dry and hard.

Bake or buy a traditional cake to place on the top tier according to the theme of the wedding. Allow to cool and place this on a round cardboard, and put into the freezer as well.

Take out the frozen cupcakes and the traditional cake about a week or more before the wedding. Decorate the tiers as using your own unique designs and color. Make or buy the toppings and coat each of the cupcakes. Do the same thing to the traditional cake as well. Once again, place them all into the freezer.

Things to Remember

* Freeze the cupcakes and cake and topping way in advance of the wedding. They can remain for at least 2 months.

* Measure the tier and the cupcakes to determine how many you need.Make sure you place them very close together for a better cake look

* Instead of regular cupcakes, miniature ones are great. They fill out the tiers even better than regular ones do.

* Make a traditional cake to place on the top of the tier so the bride and groom can cut the cake.

* Instead of baking, buy store bought one layer cake, and plain regular or miniature cupcakes and freeze and ice them as mentioned above.

* Bring the frozen cakes and the Tier, to where the wedding dinner will take place. Place the frozen cakes on the Tier, add decorations as desired.

Do not use freshly baked cupcakes or cake. Frozen will keep them firm until it is time for coffee and wedding cake.
