While vacationing in Gulf Shores, Alabama, we received a referral from a friends to dine at Lulu’s. Our friend and his family really enjoyed their dining experience at Lulu’s.
We decided to try Lulu’s for lunch on one of the days while on vacation. As we arrived, it was a very hot day, we were not surprised that we had to wait for a table, because Lulu’s is a very popular place. As we waited Lulu’s has a misting system installed outside to cool you off during your wait.
A gift shop is conveniently located near the waiting area, so you can browse while you wait for your table. We looked at all the merchandise and chose to buy items when we were ready to leave, so that we would not have to carry them around the restaurant.
The wait was not a very long one. We were greeted by a very nice young waitress, that happened to attend school near our hometown after talking with her. As we browsed the menu, she took our drink orders.
Quickly she returned with our drinks. We placed an order for fried green tomatoes as an appetizer to start our meal. There are so many options, it was really difficult to decide what to order.
Our appetizer order arrived very shortly and was hot from the kitchen. Honestly, these were the best fried green tomatoes that I have ever eaten (and I am from Alabama)! My son, who has never wanted to taste a fried green tomato, took a bite and was hooked.
Next, our entrees arrived hot from the kitchen again. As I mentioned there were too many choices of appetizers that looked delicious, so for my entree I chose the L.A. (lower Alabama) Caviar, which is actually an appetizer. However, I was allowed to order this as my entree. My husband ordered the famous “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and my son the kids fried shrimp. We all were very pleased with our selections.
We also enjoyed the scenic pelicans and seagulls that occupy nearby the canal. I took several photographs of the beautiful birds flying along the canal. As we enjoyed our meal, we watched the boats pull up to the dock.
As we departed Lulu’s we then went back into the gift shop to retrieve the items that we wanted to purchase. The gift shop is filled with sassy tee shirts, mugs, photo frames and many other items.
Outside of the gift shop is a beach volleyball net, bar and ice cream shop. I took a few moments to take photos with my family in this very bright colorful setting.
Our overall experience at Lulu’s was wonderful. Service, atmosphere, location and food more than exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be recommending Lulu’s to all of our friends and family.
